This is not a who's better thread. Just your personal opinion on which do you prefer. Hasbro or Takara Tomy.

Personally I am all about the Hasbro figures. The series was coloured in flats and so were the toys. TakaraTomy's figures are either completely covered in shiney paint or have shiney highlights.

I have to say Hasbro all the way on this one because of the show accuracy on the figures. Now I didn't really go into great detail observing the TT figures but I would assume they have more paint aps than Hasbro, as per usual, but the shiney paint is enough for me to say no.

So I ask you all...Which company's version do you prefer?

    Thanx

For the moment, Hasbro's. I don't like the seemingly aimless shiney paint applications, lack of accuracy and above all the price tag.

I'm getting Shiny!Prime for the sake of collection, but that's all I'm buying.

I like to think Japan looked at how people here (and by that I mean half the userbase on /toy/) stereotype their transformers with jokes about chrome finish and decided "MAKE THE ENTIRE LINE SHINY!" just to troll them.

Totally with you on the use of matte or "flat" paints and plastics. I preffer them in most cases on the Animated toys.

The only Japanese toy I feel is superior to the USA is the Voyager Prime. I just like the Shiny/

hasbro's. the matte finish is what they were always supposed to look like. the japanese versions don't really match the characters because of the shiny. and the ones that arent entirely shiny (starscream) look atrocious.

Hasbro. They just look better, the exception being Grimlock.

    Hasbro's Animated figures. They're the most screen-accurate.

Yup, agree with all comments so far.

It's not even a contest IMO.

    Hasbro's are FAR superior.

TakTom Animated Starscream looks fucking horrendous.

Blackout is the only one I'm considering so far. This is for two reasons.

I think the only shiney is on the side rockets and there is no confirmation of a US release.

Also I will buy any new TakaraTony figures made (I know they will make an Omega Supreme)

I am perfectly content with my Hasbro versions. I will however be getting the Starscreams for the sake of my Starscream collection, If not for that I wouldn't get any.

Hasbro's - no contest. This is one of those rare occasions where metallic paint just doesn't work on TFs (eg. TakTom's Bulkhead *shakes head*). Still, If TakTom were to release a limited-edition G1-coloured Starscream, I'd probably buy it.

I was wondering... Being that we're always hunting down the usually better TakTom figures (eg. Henkei over Classics), Will this be the first occasion when Japanese fans hunt down Hasbro's TFA figures? :lol

Ditto. If Hasbro ends up passing on Hot Rod or Ironhide and Takara does release them but makes them shiny, I'll be sad.

They already did. Which is probably why the japanese releases are so different. to hopefully make them buy more.

japanese TF fans import a lot of hasbro stuff, since hasbro usually releases things first.

Hasbro over here too. Takara's not making much sense with the paint jobs, sans Grimlock.
