While I personally didn't like Animated, I do think we need to withhold our gut reactions. I thought the designs looked silly at first, I eventually liked them enough to pick up a Voyager Prime and Leader Megatron from the line.

Personally, I like the design and I am feeling very torn because I may have to get the figures from this line if the toys are good! >_<

I won't lie to you. I'm disappointed. I was expecting something not movie-related, but oh well... I'll give it a chance, after all, there's nothing good writing + good voice-acting can't remedy!

Animated movieverse-ish? Not sure if want...

 

Though i must admit, I was hoping for something set in the WFC universe. I wonder if this is a stylised version of the updated movie BB that was discussed a while back.

The movieverse may not be the most popular amongst fans, but it is certainly Hasbros most bankable, so it would make sense (from a business perspective) to stick within the movie continuity. The clone wars cartoons were TONNES better than the films they're based on (prequel trilogy, not original), so heres hoping TF rime can do something similar.

 

I'm reminded of the first Movie Megatron pics just as much as the first Animated ones.

 

We all knew it was going to happen. Bumblebee looks bloody awful. Bring back Animated! I'm so sick of the movie universe. Let's face it. The movies suck. The first one was OKAY for someone who doesn't like Transformers or isn't a fan, but it wasn't good. The second one, whilst with better special effects and CG, was overall, worse than the first. So, making a cartoon based off two crap movies (and soon to be a third, which I highly doubt could be that radically better than the first two), is a very bad idea, in my opinion.

But of course, the brainless children will lap it up obediently, because of Bumblebee and Octimus Prime (I swear, that's what the call him! It drives me insane!) - not that Bumblebee ever did ANYTHING cool in the movies (or at least, that children would find cool), and Optimus Prime is cool, but I don't know if they should be looking up to a giant robot who likes to rip people's faces off. Children are SO dumb these days. Sure, there are still plenty of smart ones, but not enough.

Seriously, with several heavily g1-inspired comics series and a g1-inspired video game coming out (with toys attached), that's not bad AT ALL.

Old school fans can be happy, fans of the new stuff can be happy, and people who are fans of both can try to be happy for a while... until they go broke from buying all this stuff. This is going to be a great year for transformers

I think it might just be taking cues from the movies though. It might be an entirely new continuity.

Hey guys, just had a random thought. We are assuming that this Bumblebee will be just like the Movie because they share some similarities. (Color, Head design, chest, door wings, etc...) But, looking closely at the whole pic, I'm thinking he may not be a car this time.

Now before I'm lynched, hear me out. Look at his shoulders. Those fenders will be difficult to hid in a car like vehicle, but they'd be perfect for a Motorcycle. His chest could be fake. Even the doors on hi back could work as the side panels of a bike.

It's unlikely given the homage, but it could be possible.

 

I'm going to go ahead and not face it.

This looks cool, especially if the show is a prequel and focuses on their time on Cybertron.

 

Eh, I can't say I'm disappointed. Anything is bound to be better than Energon, right? I don't expect Hasbro to ever attempt breaking the mold again after the unfortunate lack of success surrounding Beast Machines, so as long as this show is written well, I don't foresee any raped childhoods.

 

My biggest concern is not being able to watch the new series. I don't get Discovery Kids

Wow at first I didn't think WFC had nothing to do with prime but this sold me its diffently ties in with it.
