I don't understand why they chose to do metallic on some but not others.

 

i tihnk only the main cast of a few bots and cons are getting that treatment.

this one also looks to be a lighter grey.

a lot of these are turning out to be nothing special and not worth the second purchase or import price. thank god for my walllet.

hopefully the takara version isnt plagued with the same QC issues as the target purple toy, my main release is nice and sturdy but the purple version has lots of really loose parts and forms quite a weakly held together tank/crane mode.

Looks like the faction symbols are metallic along with the chestplate which is a metallic silver. Nice changes, but not a big upgrade

 

i want that shockwave......will import, this one will be either longarm prime or shockwave....not sure

edit:seeing as the takara one has no decepticon symbol on the turrent.....that will probably be longarm prime

 

That jet is just some Macross garbage.
It's best not to look directly at it...

Meh.

I I think the lighter gray may be slightly more screen-accurate (depending on which screen-grab you look at   ), but the more contrasty Hasbro version looks better to me overall.

I'll keep watching Tomykara. You do a shiny metallic leader-class Megatron, and then I'll start thinking about buying a toy I already own.  

 

There's so much wrong with this post that I just don't know how to process it. FAIL on so many levels, sir.

And for the record, that is an Astro Plan toy, NOT a Macross valkyrie.

 

not much as changed slightly lighter plastic, no conlogo on the gun, coloured faction logos, metalic chest paint apps. No big changes but then did it need any big changes? this is not a collectors edition its just a repaint to better apeal to the asian market.

 

For what it's worth, Both Shockwave & Blackout have added metallic paint, but as highlights instead of the all-over some toys get. Shockwave has silver chest detail (and faction logos?) and Blackout has silver paint coating the winglets on the sides.

 

I will probably never be able to get one of those Astro Plan toys on the cheap, but they look fun. I'd never pay a lot for them because I doubt they're high QC though...
