If the water starts to recede from the beach then the wave would hit in less than five minutes. The water is always dragged out and build's up the wave's mass.

The quake back in 2004 that caused the massive Tsunami that killed thousands of people was a 9.2 on the richter scale. So expect a wave that big

I'm watching the news channel and you can see the wave in the far background of the ocean which is being filmed on the edge of a small cliff.

EDIT:Tsunami could hit at ANY moment.

It's probably gonna hit somewhere before 5:00 without a doubt. I'm watching it on Fox as we speak.

Why the hell are there boats out there?! Are they nuts?!

It's supposed to hit the big island first and reports say the waters receding. Actually seeing water starting to fill again. The news keep saying the tsunami that hit us before, it was the third swell that killed people. So they're saying waves can come in in the next few hours. I'll try and keep you updated. okay, watching the ocean recede again.....

Oh shit I completely forgot. Wait, did everyone?

What about the Galapagos? Yes I know they're uninhabited by people but there's a ton of unique and endangered species there.

As OmegaScourge said. Its alot safer to at sea than on shore when a Tsunami hits. My Father just called me to let me know that my Aunt and Unlcle are in Hawaii the Big Island now. The are supposed to leave today but the plane is on hold for some stupid reason.

News report says we're good. The warning is still on as they keep tabs, but they seem to think the tsunami will not be one of those crazy ones. We dodged a bullet.

It's all good, but with all those aftershocks.......it might not be completly over.

And there's supposedly an earthquake that just happened in Argentina, and they don't know if that made a Tsunami.

Anyway, Hawaii's fine, but my heart goes out to Chili.

Maybe Haiti started some sort of chain reaction when it had a quake.

Thanks to all the well wishers, we're fine on this side.

Wow, looks like the plates are quite active this year! I just woke up, so I'm anxious to see what all this activity has resulted in. Any videos of any tsunamis? I really hope everyone comes out unscathed, the Chile quake sounded bad.

This always happens. Almost every news report and blog, every time there's a natural disaster people either say it's the end of the world or a government conspiracy.

The Galapagos Islands are alright, right? They didn't get hit by a Tsunami did they?
