Looks more interesting here than before. Not enough for me to get one, but it's kinda neat. My main disappointment with the Tomykara Animated line is that, beyond proper faction symbols and lotsa metallic paint slapped around, there's nothing else to distinguish them from the Hasbro versions (though what they have done is plenty for many, I'm sure.). The black stripe areas are still not completely filled in, vehicle windows are left unpainted, and several other detail opportunities were passed over in favor of a shiny topcoat.
Meh. Even with him being "Ironhide", I am still not interested in anything from Japan's Animated line. They'll have to do something really awesome, like a Slipstream retool of Starscream, for me to shell out the big bucks for these.
What's with the complaints about Takara not distinguishing this from the hasbro versions? It's not like their making these to appeal to us who already have the figures
The original figure was rendered near moot thanks to the Leader class figure. Can't say the christmas ornament color scheme helps this one any...
I like the metallic paint scheme at lot even if it's not cartoon accurate. Makes the figure look so much better IMO.
*sigh at Takara* Your obsession with making things needlessly shiny and metallic and chromey actually managed to hurt what is otherwise an incredible line. Seriously, almost nothing from Animated looks good with this kinda paintscheme, and none of it looks accurate.
What I want to know is, what's the Classics Cliffjumper figure in the third photo? That's not Hasbro's paint job. A KO perhaps?
I agree with that SGT, if Bulky's colors had been this bright and shiny green I might have added him to my collection..but the OD green thing just didn't work for me..as for calling him Ironhide..maybe he should have been called that here..but then he should been a different color anyway
Hmmmm... nah, still don't like the metallic paint. I loved the flat look that Hasbro's Animated toys had. Sorry Takara, you missed the point here. Pass.
You mean how the flat finish made it look more like the show's cell animated colours? I did, too. Also, even if they were shiney in the show, that grean is awful and metallic paint still looks horrific when applied like that.
Pass. Takara's TFA continues to disappoint. The only good thing to come of this is that everyone who was saying Takara thought TFA was idiotic and was going to pass on it because of how sh*tty it is are eating their words right now.
Yup, that's exactly it. I loved how the toys were so close to the animation to such an extent. Takara's metallic paint apps completely miss that point. Not to mention that they just don't look that good either IMO. There was, but it was completely unpainted and just moulded in red plastic. Bulkhead was never released in red.
