I hope ROTF wins some Razzies, not because I think it genuinely deserves it, but because of the massive raging that would ensue.

I hope TF3 sweeps the board at the Oscars the year it comes out. For exactly the same reason.

I can admit that Armageddon is very silly but it has a sort of daft fun to it that almost conquers it's inherent stupidity to make me look back on it with a nostalgic chuckle about how silly it was, I suppose some might think that about some of the poorer Batman movies too.

I guess it might take a decade or more and time to see what direction the franchise heads in before we can look back at TF:TLAM and TF:ROTF and either look on them as a huge wasted opportunity for what could have built a franchise or as a bit of a giggle that one can erase the harm of with future better movies.

But with the movies doing excellent business at box office at least there's the chance that a movie might be made in the future that is a little less infantile in it's use of humor.

And that isn't a Screw-ball comedy mascerading as an Action Movie. They say Comedies get ingnored by the Oscars - perhaps that's why its got ignored this time.

If Bay had been clever he'd have got his foot in the door early and offered to render a special Optimus award giving or something like that - then they might have taken pity on him a bit.

I'd not be at all surprised if the reason it didn't get nominated (other than the movie itself) is Bay just rubs people up the wrong way a lot of the time. and so does Lorenzo and Don for that matter so if the commitee don't like any of the Producers it's hardly surprising that they didn't nominate them.

Also they send out a bunch of tapes to people on the Comittee - I have to wonder how many even watch them all and if the Start of ROTF is a turn off to people then that might explain why it might not get a fair go at some of the catagories it might have had a chance at otherwise.
Bay may have counted against it. being seen as a toy-movie probably didn't help either.

Oh and I totally agree about Julie White - no only is the woman unspeakable ugly she's also extremely annoying. and just like the sort of character one expects more to see in an American Pie like movie.

Honestly, if an ROTF actress had to have been nominated, it should have been Isabel Lucas. Julie White may have come across as annoying in a few scenes, but Lucas' performance was as if she was reading her lines from a cue card without even bothering to understand subtext or properly react to others.

I think the Razzies could actually catagorise "Screen couple" a bit better than X-person + anyone else - that seems a bit lazy. The Twins seems pretty obvious really.. Perhaps they need a worst Sim-Thespian actor catagory ?

I understand why Dragonball or Chun Li got overlooked as they could easily be catagorised as out for a week then 'Straight to DVD' like tat.

I was watching a quiz show a few months back and they had lots of Oscars questions and all the questions related to recent years people got wrong.

I certainly don't feel any convluence with that they cover or show an interest in it's usually scrap. The Oscars is self reverencial pretense and the razzies is just part of an unhealthy obssession with dull Celebs.

I'm not going to stand here an defend 'Big Dumb Action Movies' but neither am I going to show any interest in 'Art Movies' - pretentious culture and Art Movies to me are what's made The BBC's Film coverage shows unwatchable dog dribble for many years.

Wozzers witterings about AstroBoy not looking like Astroboy - other than looking exactly like the recent AstroBoy cartoon made me look at the screen with an expression of bewilderment.
Perhaps he was only comparing it to the 1st version but the moment I saw it I thought - 'Oh they've made an American AstroBoy movie' - I bet that should work better in CGI format than Speed Racer did as Live Action.

So Perhaps Wozzers irate middleaged nerdrage about AstroBoy is a bit like some of the G1ers fan rage of Bayformers. personally I think Astroboy seems a million times more respectful to the look and feel than Bayformers - even with Peter Cullen in place.

If only because the main title character is the main character and not some random human as it is with Sam.

But then I guess your level of Enjoyment of ROTF is relient on to what degree your prepared to leave your Brain with the coat check girl - and your level of tolerence for low Humor. Many of the Brits (Maybe the Canadians & Japanese) found it to low brow in my limited experience on such things I notice. But the Australians, Chinese and Americans seemed more tolerant.

If its good enough to do that with other than technical Oscars, I sure as hell wouldn't be bitching about it.

I hope it wins them all. Good press, bad press...it's all press. And none of it going to hurt TF3.

I think my plans at world domination have a better shot than an Oscars sweep by Transformers 3. I mean we have to replace the production team by shape shifting aliens and then hope that those aliens are skilled film makers. Oh and we have to find these aliens before filming starts soon.

Maybe down the road some reboot will have a shot at some Oscars depending on who they hire. At least with the best picture being expanded from 5 to 10 films there is at least a tiny shot that a sci-fi film might somehow take the top award one of these years.

People generally lay the dead-eyed bad acting award at Megan Fox's feet but yeah, Isabel Lucas really jumped out at me as being far more glassy-eyed and unconvincing than anyone else in the film. Which is saying something for BayFormers acting. :p
I think Julie White's job on the film was to be irritating and have scary stary eyes anyway so she did her role proud.

    I agree.

People should read the graphic novel League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and then try to watch the Hollywood butchering of the movie adaptation if you want something to really be insulted about.

Wow, was it that bad ??? I mean although it certainly wasn't an excellent movie, it was quite entertaining. But the worst film of 2009 ??? I certainly don't think so and I do believe that I'm not alone !!!

Well, ROTF caught 20% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pretty weak. But Street Fighter got a 6%, and Dragonball got 13%. Bride Wars, another 2009 movie but one that had nothing to do with people getting hit with fireballs, got 12%. Granted, Toy Story 2 is the best-rated film on the site, so you must take these assessments with a grain of salt. But there were clearly much worse movies to come out of least year.

I just don't think these other films were as "high profile" and well-known as ROTF. Like it or not ROTF has put Transformers back into popular culture in a very good way. And as such, I think these awards are just meant to be in good fun; hell, I remember Halle Berry actually showing up to accept the award for Catwoman. I think everybody should lighten up.

While we keep whining, Michael Bay, Paramount and Hasbro are laughing all the way to the bank. Where was that article about how much Bay made off the film?

With all of the bad press that ROTF has received, these Razzie noms are actually well earned. While I did enjoy ROTF the first couple of times I saw, but now when I look back I realize that it was a totally idiotic film. Along with it's prodecessor. As fans, we DESERVE better than what Bay has given us. Of course, if you really enjoyed both TF movies, then by all means feel free to enjoy them.

Actually, if you pay close attention to the first movie, you will see why they could not get the Eagles to do the Quest for them.

I agree with your second sentence, but I think we're getting what we deserve, and I am enjoying it for the most part (toys, cartoons, movies and comics, all in the same lot).

Please explain? I think I missed that, though I have my explanation.

(sorry for the long awaited reply, but replying just slipped my mind until now. )

There are several reasons as to why the Eagles couldn't bear the Quest. (moreso explained in the books then in the movies)

The Fellowship couldn't use the Eagles because they proud birds of prey, and therefore would refuse to be used as transportation animals. The only reason why Gandalf was rescued by Gwahir from Orthance, was because Gandalf did a great service to him in the past and so Gwahir wanted to return the favor. Plus, as proud birds of prey they did not concern themselves with the troubles of Men until the very end of the War of the Ring.

Mordor also has some sort of enchantment that turns away all beasts in fear. So the Eagles wouldn't be able to enter until the enchantment had been broken, which can only be done by destroying the One Ring. Not to mention that there would also be winged-Nazgul and Orc archers ready to take them down.

Finally, (and this is what is made clear in the first movie) the Ring's power will easily corrupt the proud, whereas the humble will prove resilient. Because of how the Eagles' pride, they would have easily been overtaken by the Ring. So to trust them with the Ring would have proven to be folly. Hence why Frodo is entrusted to bear the Ring on the Quest.

I hope that proves to be a good explanation, airfox. ;)

Now, if only the plotholes in both TF movies could be explained/filled...:rolleyes2
