Ok, there is SO MUCH wrong with this statement that I have to follow up on it:

First of all, the term "Geewun" is not a derogatory term for G1 and all it's fans, as you seem to think that it is. It is a nickname for those fans who are so stuck on G1 (particularly the cartoon) that they refuse to except anything but, and, as such, want newer media to be as close to their jaded childhood memories as possible.

Second, and more importantly, the people who use the term "Geewun" DO NOT (NECESSARILY) HATE G1. I think that we can all agree that the cartoon, for all it's flaws, was influential and had some good points. That being said, it is not the be-all and end-all of Transformers, and should not be treated as such. History has proven that other Transformers series are capable of being just as popular as G1 was back in it's heyday (look at the widespread popularity of the films among the general populace).

If you like G1, that's fine. If it's your favorite Transformers series of all time, that's also fine. Just don't insist that everyone else swear by it too.

... Having said all that, I can't really comment on this news, given that there isn't much of anything to comment on. Roll on 2011!

 

I just hope he doesn't make Shia the center of focus quarterback again;
in TFTM it was him running with the allspark and in ROTF, him running with the Matrix...and everything around it is either playing second fiddle or exploding to bits.

I mean, imagine TF3's key scene...all focus on a running Sam yet again, who saves Cybertron from exploding...ugh.

The only thing that can save this franchise is Sam and Michaela as Headmasters.

We only have time for explosions and robots. Pissing on each other, maybe. But robots none the muthafuckin' less. If I wanted to watch human beings I'd watch... say EVERY other movie out there. These movies are for transforming machines. From vehicle to robot to vehicle. So say we all.

 

Yeah I also read today that the G.I Joe sequel will have fewer soliders, and no weapons!

 

Bullshit, many people not just on TFW2005 complained about the rather small cast, even if a good part said MORE ROBOT SCREENTIME we STILL HAD THAT, the difference being that it was more screentime but to be shared by much more robots.

 

I wonder with this trimming down idea if they could maybe trim the run time on the next movie down.

Let's say we had slightly less robot time or fewer robots but the movie only ran about 1 hour and 45 minutes instead of something over two hours. With loads of filler cut out it would seem like the movie was more about the robots even if they had less actual screen time than in the second film.

 

If Avatar can have a fully digital world that looks real, there is no reason Cybertron couldn't be done in the same fashion.

 

I swear, if any of you people complain about lack of robots and explosions... *shakes fist*.

(Michael Bay probably feels the way Sega does involving Sonic.... the fans just DON'T know what they want xD)

 

Centralize the autobot theme around prime & BB obviously. Provide something interesting to give SS and ironhide. Then add a couple more.

I'd love see ironhide as some former elite gaurd that somehow lost his honour, and watch as he takes the steps to restore it.

Maybe some rivalry between ironhide and a new autobot, ironhide loyal to prime while the other autobot neglects to follow prime's path, etc,etc.

The cons, I'd just like to see SS, megs and soundwave as the big three that you get to see alot of. I'd also like to see some overly powerful decpeticon that perhaps may not get many lines, but kicks the shit out of everyone.

 

Less robot fighting. More character development? I can already guess the name.
