Sten talked to me when I took him out for a fight, rather than just sitting around in camp. He talks a bit about his past, how he got stuck in the cage and BAM! His personal quest is on. Now he loves me, and I love the fact he can equip Wades Superior Dragonbone Plate INSANO armour, making him the only character who I can get to have a bigger threat level than my Blood Silverite armour dude. I've also tricked out his Two handed weapons skills and he just butchers he way through the Darkspawn. Hehe. Also. I read a bit more through my guide. You can get in a foursome with yourself, Leliana, Zevran and Isabela. OMG. I am so trying that.
The foursome is good stuff! Sucks about Sten quest because you never actually get the Sword for him. Stupid bugs.
Uhm, I did. I got the sword in a house in Redcliffe, its a named blade (can't remember the name) which sits in the weapons list, but its not the most powerful so I shoved it in my chest in Wardens Peak.
Sten's sword is the one that you're supposed to get from the Dwarf in Redcliff. You can ge a sword from a Treasure chest up stairs in Redcliff, but it's not Sten's. When you finish Sten's Questline and speak to the Dwarf it says you recieve an item but you never get the sword and Sten's quest remains active in your quest list.
I checked, the quest is marked as complete in mine. I had Sten with me when I did all steps of his quest, and finally at Dwyns in Redcliffe he threatened it out of the dwarf. The dwarf then lets me loot his chest in the back room of his house. Afterward, the sword is there in the 'other' menu, as a gift. I gifted it to Sten, got a short little cutscene where he says now he has the sword, he can go home, but it would be a better report to his Arashok if he can 'report that the Blight is destroyed' so he stays with me. Afterward I recieve a new sword in my Weapons menu, its definietly Stens, its restricted to him and is called Asala. Its a two handed Greatsword (Steel tier 3) with a couple of rune spots and various bonuses, but overall the damage is only 12, so I don't use it. Right now I think he's using Yusaris, which is the top greatsword in the game, I think. Maybe you haven't found Dwyn yet? His house is down by the water in Redcliffe Village, I don't remember any upstairs in his house?
Ah man, I'm super jealous. In all my playthroughs I get "item received" but nothing and that of course glitches the questline.
Yeah, inconsistant bugs FTL. But in a game with so many different variations of things to do stuff is bound to go wrong. My major bug is with Morrigan, she's at 100%, will teach shapeshifting specializations to other mages, yet in her dialog says she won't do it. Eh? Also, for some reason, Morrigan now has Spirit Healer status (ie she can group heal and revive) but it doesn't show up in my Abilities or skills. I'm going to have to assume its a bug where spirit healer was unlocked for her after one of the quests (maybe Broken Circle) but it hasn't showed up. I edited my post a little though, see if it helps.
The Bug I think is funny (if it's really even a bug), is that after settling the dwarf dispute, I still have an active quest to help "the other" dwarf, but that's technically impossible, since a choice has been made and it's unlikely the other one will come back I did get Sten's sword, and he loves using it.
It's like breaking into a patient at a mental hospital, when you're a counselor. I wanted to break Sten. He was such and ass, that along with beating the game, I was determined to make him open up. Now he's my bitch. This is an edit: The last time I wanted to know about a character like this was Shadow in FFVI.
Maybe as I finish the game I'll get options for Sten. I'm pretty sure he's glitched out for me, though. It doesn't matter -I'm looking forward to a second playthrough.
I'm at the point where I know I'm near some kind of end, so I am going through and doing all of the side missions. No stone left unturned in this game.
Except for Lotheran. I went to go back and finish my quests there but it was already over-run by Darkspawn.
That's not a bug. Morrigan will only teach you out of necessity to stay with the group, so only if she moderately likes you (0-25). Any higher and she doesn't feel the need to teach anyone anything.
No, she will teach others. I got to the point where she says she can't teach me (not the proper aptitude) but will teach others. Then after that dialog, she says she won't, stop pestering her. The thing is, when Wynne levels up, the option is there for shapechanger speciality, but I went for Arcane Warrior instead. With Arcane warrior Wynne's magic point equate to Strength for weapon/armour equip, so technically I could give her the Insano Armour if I wanted her to beef up her defence or attack. Which I don't, I want her to remain ignored at the back of my group, giving us boosts while we go off and kick ass. Heheh. But yeah, that sort of makes sense, she did have the option open to begin with then retracted it? Weird. But I'm loving this game. Does anyone know of any sequel plans (the search for Morrigan!) or is it all DLC for now?
I read on the Bioware site that we haven't seen the last of Morrigan. Whether it's DLC or sequel, who knows. I'll be there regardless.
Well, all the DLC is set before the final battle in Origins, so I'm guessing any real story development will be in a sequel. But even that has massive potential. Orlasian Grey Wardens are going to find out about the deal with Morrigan, and hunt her down! Do you go with them? Oppose them? Fight for that Maleficar? But I guess it all depends on how Bioware treat the end of the game. There are so many different ways of finishing, Enora is Queen, Alistair is King, You are Queen, you are dead, Alistair is dead, the 'other' Grey warden is dead, none of you is dead, Morrigan deal was on or off... all these things. But at least in Mass Effect the game always ended the same, only the minor details were different... I'm actually now really curious how they're gonna do this.
Supposedly Morrigan's past will be a part of the upcoming expansion Awakenings. As indeed the Grey Wardens have a run in with Flemeth, or so I hear
