I just saw these on IDW forum. It's a drawing made by Alex Milne, using Don's new style, but with more G1 faces. What do you think? Does it look better to you?

Just wish Don went with this kind of face. it actually works well with the bodies and ties in better with previous artwork.

 

I absolutely love this piece, and greatly prefer this look to the "movie faces". Kudos to Milne.

The simpler faces show more emotion and character yes.
If I recall, the MarkerGuru said he was tired of "movie faces", too.

I love Don's work, and he might yet prove us wrong, but for the comic medium I think his current style of face is just too busy.
I think he has really improved his storytelling with his placement of characters within panels, and overall pacing.
However, the faces are getting in the way of the narrative -to a small degree.

Either way, I support Don's attempts at doing something new.

Yes I like this much better.

Even if it means going all the way back to G1 faces - there might be a road somewhere in between that will still give them more complex faces, but not so terrible looking.

 

Have to say, before i saw Don faces, and now this, i didn't realize how much i cared about them...

 

I hated the new faces and designs and now I see this and the new designs are warming up to me.

Makes me think if they did something like this in the movies I might have liked them a little better.

I like em both ways myself. But its interesting how simply changing the face can change the look of the whole thing.
