I wonder how Hasbro deals with that origin for Unicron in their official canon.

I go with the comic version origin.

Although I can't deny that Primitives is one of my favorite episodes because of the action, animation and humor ("TERRORCONS FIGHT EVERYBODY!!!!")

    And Tornitron/Tormatron/energy-unicron-guy was awesome.

    I got it!

Robot Monkey makes giant robot. Giant Robot gets invaded by Ghost Robot Satan. Said invaded robot becomes Unholy Unicron!

    It's a FUCKING CONSPIRACY!

If Hasbro or Takara signs off on it, it's canon. So in the G1 cartoon, Unicron is built by a monkey alien.

Now, if you're trying to reconcile that with every other continuity's view on Unicron, you can just extrapolate that for whatever reason, Unicron orchestrated his introduction into the G1 cartoon universe by getting Primacron to build a body for him.

Haven't read all the comics, but I didn't like the explanation of the series.

Considering or not considering it canonical is not an option.

It appeared on the show there for it is canon for the show, wether we likedit or not.

I agree with you. With the movie, I was content with the idea that things like Unicron could just exist naturally in the universe with no supernatural or artifical origin--like a natural disaster. To me, that made him way more menacing than being a god or someone's creation.

I'm cartoon-centric for the most part, so I accept Primacron, the creator Quintessons, and whatnot (except maybe the stuff that contradicts the other stuff) in that context. However, I also like the general idea of Unicron and Primus as beings greater than that. While it may seem contradictory, it doesn't have to be. From there, I consider Primacron and the Quints as "means to an end", influenced subconsciously by the goals of Unicron and Primus, respectively. With the Quints' actions, Primus gets a planet full of tecnological beings to give life/consciousness, and through Primacron, Unicron gets a huge transforming Orson Welles body.

That's what I thought. Good that I've seen "Call of the primitives" the first time a few months ago! So all the years he was exactly like that and not merely a munkky-creation *g*

This. The G1 cartoon origin is anticlimactic, but you can't engage in cafeteria canonicity just because you don't personally happen to like it. Do whatever you want with your own personal canon, but that's the way it is in the cartoon. End of story.

If it were that simple to get rid of shitty writing, I'd veto Simon Furman's explanation for female Transformers (or lack thereof) in every damn Transformers continuity he's ever contributed material to.

Ah the flashforward CIA view of things.

Any way I prefer the comics but the cartoon had some good things, personally I'd like a version where TF evoleved as a basic organic life form capable of storing massive amounts of energy, think basically electric sludge with a mind, the quints found it, messed with it and used to make the power cores (sparks) for there new line of robots, the sludge kept evolving and became TF's and unicron is the quints seeing how big and bad they could make something or given how he eats some kind of large scale mining thing/factory that like TF's grew totally out of control.

Sounds like you'd be more comfortable with the Go-Bots.

Why not? It's absurd to the point of being acceptable.
The Marvel Comics religious excuse was cheap - if there's something you can't explain, blame them gods.
