"no more line-wide gimmicks" has always been kind of a loose promise anyway, depending on how you interpret things like "Auto-morph" and "Mech-Alive"

My guess is "Power Core Combiners" will be a subset/subline of whatever line it's in anyway, compared to the 'All Autobots combine with something' Energon line.

    hmmm sounds cool.

honestly I'm thinking of that rumble/frenzy toy and you know it seemed like he only turned into a box so maybe power cores are alone the lines of cassettes/powermasters/pretender robots

That promise was more along the line of "no line wide gimmicks in Animated."

Hasbro never stated they would never ever develop a new toyline with a line wide gimmick. Even ROTF has a line wide gimmick.

This is going to be AWESOME, I very much believe the rumble frenzy proto has something to do with this!

Why do people keep saying that? Didn't the guy who posted it have a history of posting 3rd party items?

No one has claimed it yet, and think about it, he's probably a core!

However, the fact the prototype is white plastic is something to think about. Most Hasbro and Takara protos are red or grey, not pure white. That looks third party. It could be a new thing HasTak's trying, but who knows.

Also, the site was in Japanese, and most of us can't read it. Google Translate is highly unreliable and nothing compared to a native speaker/reader or a long-time student.

and they ended up creating one of the best toylines yet, perhaps not because of that but it certainly helped create figures that weren't fundamentally compromised to incorporate a silly sticky-out engine that plugs in, or whatever.

    grey plastic isn't a gimmick, silly ;)

my new theory on this is a line of 2-part mix & match combiners.

Oh, I totally agree mostly due to the same reasons you state.

    :lol

P.S: though to be frank, I don't get all the complaints about the gray plastic.
