can't stand it, there's very very few figures from this line that i would even consider buying, and only two that i will
I think a lot of it missed and a lot of it hit. It's pretty good, I guess. Leader Prime, Human Alliance stuff, and it's looking like Leader Starscream are winners to me. I think the line would be better anchored by a good leader Megatron. I like the Voyager, but it's way too small to get epic poses with Leader Prime. Most everything else is mediocre to pretty good, with some utter garbage mixed in. To me, it fell short of Animated's line and about on par with the Universe line. It's way better than the first movie line. I prefer the Classics line over it, but only for the characters and aesthetics.
I voted it's OK, but that's not how I feel. It has some of the best, most incredible, utter marvels of figures ever made! But it also has some of the worst, most miserable, utter wastes of plastic to ever carry the Transformers name. It's also weighed down with the profound disappointment of non-combining constructicons and the complete lack of an adequate Devastator. If it wasn't for the sheer magnificence of Leader Optimus, the ice-cream twins, human alliance and a few others, I'd be severely tempted to go with 'it sucks'. But those toys are just so undeniably great that I simply can't in good conscience.
Movie time is good. I only collect the on screen characters for the most part. But I do pick up any other figures or store exclusives under the movie banner that will fit with classics. Its an ok line! I eagerly await classics/universe though
It's ok. The line is not the best I've seen in recent history. There are some mishandlings of the line by Hasbro that gave me a sour impression of these toys. Some characters should have been made (ie Hightower and Scrapper) and there are some that should not have seen the light of day (ie Stratosphere and supreme class Devastator) as an action figure. The highlight of the toyline IMO is the inclusion of scouts. The ideas behind some of the figures' alt mode are very clever (ie bi-plane and toaster).
I voted "ok". I'm not a big fan of the line as a whole, but the few I do have are pretty good. Everyone has their own tastes though.
I don't like them. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the first movie but hated the sequel. There are some cool figures that I wouldn't mind picking up, like Leader Prime and some of the HA figures. But for the most part, not really interested in the line. My biggest problems is the lack of colors and the palette that is used. It just comes off very bland. There's just no life to them. Personally, I just don't think the movie design translates to good looking toys.
I think it's awesome. It's not the best ever, but I've enjoyed all of the toys from this line so far. I really don't want to be a "gee-wunner," but the toys from the Classics/Universe 2 line are still my favorites, because of nostalgic character recognition. I'm guessing it's the reimangining of old characters into new toys that's doing it - and I'm really happy to see other lines (Armada and Beast Wars) incorporated. While they're not G1-accurate, I'm thrilled with the inclusion of the Superion and Bruticus repaints from the Energon toyline. The ROTF toyline is really great, giving us (mostly) screen-accurate toys, and some very involved transformations, but they don't quite achieve the balance of complexity and simplicity that the Classics/Universe 2 has (in general, of course). Still, two thumbs up to Has/Tak for their work. I'm one happy collector.
Surprise, Surprise! I voted "it Sucks". I personally don't like the movie robot designs. So... A clumsy toy translation of them is even worse.
I bought more RotF figures than I bought TFTM figures. It isn't a great line, IMO. but as you can see in Baseball, even the Dead-Last team won a few. I have maybe 4-5 figures coming in '10 i will get and that should be it for me. Here's hoping that 3rd time's the charm.
With the exception of the Human Alliance line, I think it sucks which is in no small part due to how dull everything looks due to the half assed paint apps and poor choices of plastic color. The movie designs can look good in toy form as many customs prove and while I don't expect that level of detailing in a factory paintjob especially on the cheaper toys I think more of an effort should be made for the Leader Class toys at the very least. I think the money used to develop all the non-movie characters would have been better spent elsewhere namely the paint budget for the Leader Class toys and giving certain characters from the actual film bigger molds ie Ironhide, Grindor & Long Haul. The international distribution has also been crappy (as usual ) and one of the waves that Hasbro UK cancelled contained the one Deluxe I was really, really intrested in getting ( the ice cream truck ) so that's left something of a sour taste towards the line and I doubt I'll buy any more aside from the remaining HA's.
There should really be a "completely indifferent/not paying attention option". I have nothing against it, and besides obviously seeing the toys in store, have really had nothing to do with it so couldn't comment on whether the toys are awesome or suck. The whole thing just doesn't get my Transformer-sense tingling, so I choose to ignore it. That's not the same thing as thinking it sucks though. I voted "it's OK" - as I presume it must be to have so many fans.
I pretty well like it. I still think Cybertron might be my favorite overall TF line, but teh 2 movie lines as a whole are great. Like others have said, there are some top-notch toys from this line: ROTF Leader Prime ROTF Voyager and Leader Starscream HA Bumblebee and Skids and even 2007 Leader Prime
Folks: I don't enjoy all of it, but what I do like, I like a lot. Sideswipe is REALLY cool, for instance, and the basics and Legends are excellent. Personally, I think ROTF should have been two hours of Sideswipe skating around and swording Decepticons.
I voted its awesome! I just wish they didn't design do many shelf warmers. like wheelie, RC Twins, Swerve and the other repaints. I can't find Sideswipe anywhere. They should of made more of him, he's the one selling.
