I think I'm in the camp of, "You have no idea what he was doing, you had no right to do that." Two wrongs don't automatically make a right. If he's able to buy 15 MP Skywarps, then he's going to. While his intentions might seem obvious, it's not your place to take the situation into your own hands. Best case scenario: you ask the guy politely if you could have one (and one for the other collector) because that's what you came there to buy. If he says yes, you get your figure and if he says no, you don't and you can call the guy a raging douchebag in your mind. There isn't a whole lot in this world that would make it "OK" to steal a guy's cart and throw around potentially false accusations. Life is too short for that kind of stress anyway.
^people do act way too quickly without thinking it all out nowadays. And we have a sense of entitlement. We think we are always "owed" something.
I agree with this. I never thought I would see so many people on here defending scalping. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have taken the guy's entire cart, but I damn sure would have grabbed one out of his cart. As a collector, I've seen plenty of toys that I could have scalped on ebay for extra cash. I simply don't do it because it's wrong. I would rather leave the figure for someone else to get. As for saying that some of the Skywarps were for the guy's kids, we don't know that either. This figure is way too complex to be given to little kids. If the guy was buying 15 of them, he would have known that.
I am having a bit of trouble believing this story. Seems like everything just worked out a bit too perfect IMO.
this, without proof, your kinda just as bad if not worse. your decision to act was not justified. and hence u feel better bout yourself, yet left the victim without his loot, his find
wow lol after a day so many replies. You guys startin to make me feel bad, even though taking 1 would probably of been wrong anyway. I was initially going to take mine out his cart and go to checkout lol but I acted fast without thinking and just took the whole damn thing and hid it. I probally should of asked the guy but then again that dosent always work. I remember a similar experience years back when I was looking for alternators smokescreen when it first came out, lady had 4 or 5 of the last stock and I asked for 1 and she said to meet her outside of the store after she bought them...trying to sell me 1 for 50 bucks. I assume the guy with the skywarps just went back to the toy asile and bought the 4 that were put back out on shelf
I do not think any of us are defending scalping, at least not me. I'm against scalping simply because it makes it harder for real fans to get hold of items without paying stupid markups. But as for the ability to scalp, I'm defending for his right to do so. imo, there should be a limit to how much you can buy exclusive things to prevent this. Similar to why I think you shouldn't have taken the cart is the same way I feel about him scalping. Two wrong doesn't make a right but neither is one wrong and one right (if you didn't take it). With past experiences with asking people first, plus with having to act fast, I would of probably taken one from his cart (probably not the entire cart though). nevertheless, I wouldn't feel bad. If anything, it's people like these, taking shortcuts, going around and finding loopholes to make money that got us to our current economic problems. So if they don't care about you, what other choice do you have other than not care about them as well?
It doesn't matter that is exclusive as I said before, by the logic of "fairness" if there was one figure left then if you see it you would have to let some one else have a chance and could not buy it for yourself.
i can agree he may have had legitimate reasons for wanting to buy all 15 but it doesn't make him any less greedy, if you go and find just one of what your looking for oh well nothing you can do buy it and move on but to go and find 15 and take them all that is just too much they gut should have left a couple, the OP likely took things too far but i can understand his feelings
In all fairness I do think wal-mart should place a limit on how many can be bought. But ya. If I want a big ol' sexy seeker army you better believe I'll have one. Because even if the limit was put in place I would hit a few wal-marts to get what I was looking for. I am not defending scalping. Just saying live and let live. If someone is looking to resell the figures on ebay then mind your own business. It is no different than a MISB collector who keeps his TFs MISB because he can resell them for much more later.
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER. The OP wanted to flex his Internet Tough Guy muscles by making himself seem like a cool badass who doesn't play by the rules. Except it all sounds like a sad little lie to me.
Worst case scenario, if I had seen this, I'd have asked if I could have one... I saw Skywarps at my Wal-mart, and no way was I paying $60 for a repaint of Starscream, who has been in his jet mode on a shelf since he first came out.
lol you dont have to believe me if you dont want to...i mean the only proof I could give is a videotape of the whole thing, but that would be too perfect.Just thought I'd share thats all.
Yes it does. no matter how great your custom is. because it does destroy the base figure. it'll never be that figure again. its the same as if you bought it and smashed it. you're permanently removing a MP Skywarp from existence.
