Good stuff; looking forward to reading this issue.

Don is still the best tf artist out there and the colouring is fine IMO...

No matter how much I don't like the style, IDW already lost me with AHM. I'll vote with my wallet, and I won't buy this either. If they bring Furman back and ignore AHM, I'll be back.

Sorry, Don, but I really, really don't like the new style. At all. Especially the overly-fussy faces that portray all the emotion of a brick wall. Movie-inspired details might work well when animated on-screen, but when put down on the page in pencils and ink, they don't only lose something, IMO, they drag everything else down with it.

I can understand how you might want to try something new, and push your abilities as an artist, but I can only voice my own disappointment in the direction you're going in. If others like it, fine, and I hope they continue to enjoy your work, but sorry - not for me.

Oh...so people are allowed to say something negative, but when somebody actually likes what they're doing he's automatically working for them?

    NOOOOOOOOO

Why not a moderately peripheral character, like Red Alert or Hound, or something?

Now - to see WTH Prime finally gets off his aft to do!

    You know what he meant.

The humans don't blend in with the 'bots well.

Nice to see Ironhide adding another quality death scene to his resume.

He'll probably be back in the sequel, repainted as Armorhide or something.

As for the art...eh, the Marvel issues were full of crap art too, and we survived that.

I'm sorry, I cannot get past the faces. They look hideous. No matter which angle they are viewed at, all the bots look "evil" and hacked off. Ick ick ick.

    Cheap shot. :)

I DO agree... and yet, to be fair, it's not like there isn't a precedent for such things. Looking at the manga/anime tradition for example, one of the halmarks of the style is the extreme simplification/stylization of human characters, and the contrasting extreme realism and detail found in the technical details and surrounding world in general (and mecha in particular). I find that works fine...

Granted TFs kind of straddle the vague line between "characters" and "tech"... :)

The art is horrid! Does not depict any emotion. If I wanted to buy a Movie-verse comic, I would buy one, don't put that art on our G1 friends. Ruins the whole feel of it, really does. :mad

The problem is that back in the Marvel days, artists had a character model to go from (which itself was based on the toys, for the most part), and in general, the characters looked like the model, only with the artist's style. Nowadays, it's like every artist wants to reinvent the character models.

Oh no. Marvel never changed the way their faces looked every time you turned around. Nope nope! That's an invention of evil IDW.
