While this is a very good interpretation of Starcream from the 2009 Movie, its an abomination of a transformer, it looks like the jet transforms into some kind of monster. I eagerly await a review of this figure because I love transformers... But If I had only one transformer and I wanted to show someone what transformers were about, this would not be the figure I show them.

I'll wait to see more pics before I solidify my thoughts on this. Of the movie line, I'm liking the Breakdown mold (I want a red recolor), the Detour / Deadend / Nightbeat / Greaser mold, Skystalker and Mindwipe (maybe). Waiting to see Dunerunner in different colors and scattershot. I almost forgot -BRAWN!

    Ditto.

I noticed that there's not set boosters on the back and how kibblicious he is on the underside in the ROTF extras.

why would there be boosters on his back.. i don't understand why people are soo obsessed with those things.

when i think of starscream i think of the wings on his shoulders, the way his legs are articulated, his arms, and his chest.. i would definitely have those aspects be more accurate than sacrifice something to have the boosters on his back. (oh and i wouldn't mind having the boosters if nothing had to be sacrificed, i do like them, but i'm not disappointed at all that they're not there)

and there really isn't much kibble in his jet mode.. just because there isn't a nice casing around the parts like in the voyager version doesn't mean it's "kibblicious". and it's not like you see those parts in his alt mode anyways.. i think they did a fantastic job on this. there's nothing under his wings, there aren't any fingers sticking out the back, there isn't a substantial backpack on him in robot mode, they got the legs very close to accurate, the arms are great with his hidden gattling gun and missiles.. and it was a REALLY great touch to have the missile arm piece as an attachment, that way they can be more accurate with it and both of his arms can be normal if you want them to. the only thing i wish they could have done better are the tattoos and the overall color. the actual jet mode in the movie didn't have nearly as much black tattooing on the body, and i wish the nose of the jet had more complete tattooing. also i wish they would have had him with a flat grey scheme with some white designing and black tattooing over that. to closer resemble the movie model.

and how exactly is starscream an abomination? i personally think that he is one of the best models in the movie. to me.. they definitely seem more real than if they had G1 starscream on screen.. don't get me wrong, i love G1 and the classics/universe line.. but i think the movie models really bring a realism to transformers.. not to mention they require more complex transformations. i mean.. leader primes transformation is incredible. and showing someone how they made a very accurate truck turn into an extremely accurate robot is what transformers are all about.. and it looks like leader starscream could be thrown in that mix.

I've actually realized that I like the compromise figures, but not the full ROTF renditions, so basically I've really been enjoying some of the scouts and I look foward to Mindwipe and Brawl!

The boosters on his back enable him to do action such as flying in botmode ; the awesome aerial fight scene against the F22 squad in movie 1.

Without realistic propulsion, movie bots cannot fly....hence the boosters on SS's back.

Yeah but the reason it makes no sense is that the F22's boosters are concealed and not exposed, so movie starscreams boosters form out of those parts...inside the raptor.

So to get boosters they would actually need to build an engine inside the tail section of the toy that can fully transform...

Or they can just not include it and have a super accurate jet mode ;)

well, it makes all the sense in the world to demand such a transformation from a leader class priced figure... despite the fact that pretty much everyone is aware that a real F22 has non exposed engines to avoid radar detection.

....it's probably not gonna happen.. i know... but saying it's not making sense just to defend a company whose not willing/able to engineer such a thing, is just going a bit too far imo.

Well in case you weren't aware, the movie transformations are impossible ;)

It's not possible to get a bot mode that looks that good, with the boosters. Having those boosters inside the tail would take up ALOT of room.

Or they could just, y'know, NOT BE IN THE TAIL OF THE PLANE. It's a toy, dude. The boosters can be wherever they want.

Not when it's a key aspect to the look of the plane. (and don't be like KIBBLE ON THE BOTTOM!, is the bottom of the plane really that important?) Putting boosters on the plane would ruin the fact that it's an F22, so yeah, it is important.
It's like taking Optimus's truck mode, and putting the actual engine inside of the cab, because it appears on the robot mode. Sure it's possible, but not on a mass market toy.

...what? I was insinuating that you could just hide the boosters within the body of the jet mode. It's a toy, it doesn't have to be able to fly, just look like a plane and then look like a robot.

True that....but imo, it wouldn't hurt to push Hasbro as much as possible to deliver 'the goods' for our money.
