Okay, I'm going to get straight to the point. I'm sure everyone has heard the rumors following the announcement of leader starscream that there will be a fifth leader class figure: leader class "Grindor." following such rumors have been supposed announcements and news reports that there will be a "voyager scrapper," a "deluxe hightower" an other dubious claims of similar nature.
Over the past few months, I have been cruising many shadier, less reputable boards that are chock full of said claims, simply to collect evidence.

I for one think this is wonderful, but likely horseshit.
anybody who has any info or opinions to share, please do.

Those rumors have floated around forever without a shred of evidence to back them up. I dont think this belongs as a news topic, it's been hashed out to death.

That beind said, Hightower would make the worst Transformer ever, and any "blackout" or "Grindor" is a hideously bad idea because nobody's paying $45 for a one-off character just because he's supposed to be big. Same reason nobody would buy a $45 Animated Lugnut, he's a side character at best. Collectors would love it, but the other 85% of the market would never go for it. (See RotF Devastator)

I think the mods should delete the "and Rumors," and just call this forum, "Transformers News" in order to prevent threads like this.

    Okay in right sub-forum.

Okay, I agree with Omegus. We fans are like th 40 or 50% of hasbro's sells. Whilst the other percent of general consumers are the ones paying.

Which do you think Hasbro is going to with, the one who puts the most money in their pockets. I would love all of what you said. SS is being made, I'm happy.

Sure I want a Grindor/Blackout but I have my doubts highly that Hasbro will answer to us, the ones who don't pay as much as the General Public.

well, yeah valid points, but these guys are all pretty damn persistent that "It's gonna happen, It's gotta." like I said, I just needed some clarity as to how other people percieve these. also, what wave is Flareup/ Elita 1 supposed to be part of? maybe people got the wrong Idea, going off the upcoming waves and announced figures. this could just be a huge confusion.

I'm not quite sure this is the right forum, it looks like I'm getting some minor negativity...

Well so far the next wave we know of, I think is the N.E.S.T Global Alliance wave, after that we have not yet heard.

We know some of the figures, but we don't know exaclty what wave.

there was also the recent Leader class Bumblebee rumour.

I've got a bad feeling that one could turn out to be legit.

Pretty sure Hasbro has indicated the collector market is more in the range of 10%-20% of sales, making fan impact even LESS important in the grand scheme.

Leader class Blackout, Grindor, and (to a lesser extent) Bumblebee are all ideas floated by fans - nothing more. The only things we can conclusively say are coming are Leader Starscream and a repainted Leader Prime (because there's always one).

Everything outside of that is just people making crap up.

Don't worry too much about it, some people just like the get up on their sarcastic high horse and don't provide any useful info to people who might not post here 24/7.

But addressing your original post, rumors are fun but unless something posted by Hasbro or a test shot is seen from overseas I typically take everything I read online with a heaping bowl of salt.

    So, here's a question:

Assuming that fans and collectors are 20% of the Transformers market, what prevents Hasbro from creating and selling limited edition molds/super-accurate repaints?

I mean, let's say Hasbro says "We're want to release Leader-Class Blackout/Grindor. It'll be an online-only exclusive, and cost $50-$75. Before we make it, we need a minimum of X numbers of preorders, where X is the amount it takes for them to break even." It's how most of the small, specialty manufacturers did it, and Hasbro has done it before (the Cloverfield monster). They don't need to make packaging for it and can ship it in a brown cardboard box (like the scale Balrog from NECA), charge more for it because it's a "limited edition", and ensure that they'll sell out of almost everything they make.

Moreover, who here wouldn't pay an extra $10 for a super-accurate Leader Prime repaint? I'd be all over that.

    Just a thought.

I don't disagree at all, but I don't think there will ever be new molds for exclusive, limited run toys. The only example I can think of where a mold was created and then used ONLY for exclusive pruposes (no mass retail release) is the Aveo Swerve... and that was commissioned and paid for by a major auto maker.

While I do think Hasbro could (and should) provide at least a few HTS exclusive repaints during every line, the chances of an all new mold (particularly a large leader class) being created as an exclusive is close to, if not entirely impossible.

I'm not even planning to pay full price for Leader Prime, I'm sure as hell not paying extra.

Incidentally, if there is another Leader coming, my money's on it being a Prime repaint. Black, blue, some sort of desert camo, whatever. I guess Prime molds sell.
