Actually I for one am kind of mad it is going to be so soon, Bay wanted a year off the movie franchise just to rest...paramount is really cracking the whip on him if he is going to head straight into filming the third installment of this film.

I mean respectfully bay really is a mastermind of filming....but shit even I would need a year to myself after that much headache.

Don't get me wrong, starting off early is epic and hopefully will allow our general cast to show up....but I hope he won't slack without much of a chance to rest....

*Cheers* to bay proving he is the machine behind the man

The first movie in this series needed more time as they needed to decide on the look of the robots the tone of the film as well as establish which characters are going to be in it. Now they have the characters, tone and style so now it's a matter of finding a story and how the established characters fit in and bringing in new ones as well.

Yep, and perhaps in 2010, we'll get a cartoon that will get canceled only because of the anticipation of the next crappy movie. Damn, Hasbro's smart.

yep, fully agree. I can't really say about Politicians but when it comes to Hollywood there are some directors who can satisfy both audience and studio needs. Directors like Steven Speilberg and George Lucas have made memorable films that make much MORE money in the longrun because of the attention to story and decent judgement. Sure even they have their short comings, and throw in the occasional Jar Jar Binks character. But the difference is that Bay films are entirely filled with Jar Jar Binks sensibilities.

I had to chuckle at the words "story" and "Ehren Kruger".

As an aside, hopefully Bay and co. are wise enough to use video conferencing technology. I would hate to have to fly all the way to Rhode Island from LA every time a decision from Hasbro is required... unless, of course, flying is Bay's idea of "downtime".

Am I excited? Not really. I'll see it but I don't expect anything.
It'll be nice for some of the concepts to start leaking.
That's more interesting to me than the movie itself.

Rhode Island is a very nice place, I'm glad Bay is able to visit to go over movie issues.

    Can't wait for 2011!

just give me a coherent story (it doesn't have to be that good, just coherent), a little less inappropriate innuendo (balls/golden showers) and don't let teh entire plot revolve around a McGuffin and i'll be happy.

Spider-man 3, Pirates of the Carribean 3, Shrek 3, Alien 3 and The Matrix 3 would all like a word with you (all widely considered pretty terrible) (edit: i see this was addressed :p )

I guess I better start saving my extra money for all the new movie toys that will come in May 2011.

Agreed too. There are several Hollywood directors which can combine both good effects and a good story.

But the past 2 movies have shown that the people behind Transformers movies lean more towards the effects and profits, and understandably so. Directors, producers, movie backers, etc are people too, and when it comes to human nature, sometimes the lure of huge profits can eclipse everything else and blind them to other aspects.

It would be nice if we got the best of both worlds, but that's usually the exception, rather than the rule.

good point. Some movies with with good stories actually use a McGuffin well, but these movies have no story and several McGuffins surrounded by techno jargon that would make a Trekkie cry.

Sounds good. I just hope that we can get better characters like Prowl, Hound, Wheeljack or better yet bring back Jazz. ROTF could have been a hell of a lot better. How can you not have a Transformers movie and not have Prime say "Autobots, transform and roll out" or even "roll out" like in the first one. There wasn't much dialogue between the Autobots in ROTF or between Megatron and Soundwave or any Decepticon and Soundwave outside of Wheelie. I just want this to be THE ONE that has it all because I'm pretty sure they backed the truck up to Mr Bay's door to get him to do this one so fast.
