hi people, ive recently... became saddened... because my ipod. fell in th water... it happened yesterday, and i pulled it out of the water like 2 seconds after it fell in. and i played with it a few times afterwards... but then it started acting crazy, and i tried to turn it on a few time but gave up... as of now ive used the hair dryer and now am using the rice teqnique.... and am waiting... can anyone tell me if they know any otherways to fix this, or is my ipod as good as dead :'(
This is why I buy the apple protection plan. They fix things like this no questions asked. You can either go to the apple store or contact apple and they will cover shipping to them and back to you. My bother went through 3 ipods while he was under the plan and it never cost him any money.
No, water damage isn't covered. With or without APP. I can post the warranty if needed but I promise you, if you send it in, it ain't being replaced. And those questions are asked. Or if not the unit is sent back and a picture is taken and logged to the case. That way when you call back saying "my iPod wasn't fixed" a picture is pulled up. Also, there's liquid submersion indicator in iPod's, two in some. Earlier iPod's have them in the headphone jack. If you shine a bright light directly inside you'll see a white paper if said paper is pink or red then we won't cover it. Rice trick is the best bet but unfortunately at this point where you turned it on after wards it's probably fubared.
Keep it off for a good two weeks. Every day or so give it a shake and turn it over. After all the water inside is dried out give it a try but don't expect to much.
ok thx guys.... i hope nothings fried, but not hoping for much. just sad cuz i wasted my parents money
if you're willing to do it, you could also open the iPod up, helps with the faster drying process. i got my pager to work after a few days. so there's always a possibility.
.... apple won't cover the damages.... here is what I did when my sister's touch fell in the toilet. 1. put in in a bowl of rice for a week the put it in a very warm area for a few days then charge it...then it should work.
