You know, I've always wanted to go and visit New York City and check out the WTC. But now I will never get to see the WTC except in pictures and films made before 9/11.
The Architect's Newspaper Make sure to visit the museum when it's completed in 2012. It was designed by the architecture firm that I'm currently employed by, although I didn't get to work on it. I was probably designing lab furniture at the time the construction drawings were being completed, or something way lamer.
I was just doing ordinary stuff since I was very young, and my Dad called me into the room to watch the TV. Needless to say I was very shocked.
Will definitely see the museum. Also, are they still going to put up the Freedom Tower in the place of WTC, or have they completely abandoned that project altogether?
I saw them once, but was there on business and didn't get to go to the top, really still sad I didn't get the chance.
The Freedom Tower is going up across the street, north of the memorial/museum/original WTC site. Additional towers will flank the site to the east.
What a shame... Another thing is that I went to Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2000 as part of an annual trip for 8th graders. My mom's been a chaperon on this trip for years, and things were certainly different in D.C. after 9/11. I think in one trip my mom went to after 9/11, that the group was originally going to go into the capitol building but I guess there was a bomb scare and they were evacuating the building.
As the son of a firefighter that nearly had to go out to New York on that day, I think it'd be nice for everyone to try and thank as many fire fighters/police men they see tomorrow. These guys are out with their lives on the line everyday, and I don't think to many people take the time to realize that.
I see. When are they going to start building the tower, and when do they estimate they'll be finished with the project? Just curious. I happen to know quite a few firefighters in my hometown when I was a part of their department's explorer program. I know very well that they would risk their lives when out on duty. I lost a very good friend of mine when he was on duty -- he was just promoted to captain in the fire department, and he was also a reserve police officer. I think I got a NYFD cap myself, along with a "We Will Never Forget 9/11" cap. If I happen to go out tomorrow, I'll be sure to wear one of them.

that day started the same as any other day. i had just started my first semester in college, i had an 8 o'clock class that was supposed to last 2 hours but the teacher never lasted that long, i think the longest he lassted was 50 min. anyways, i went to my car and started listening to the radio because i had an hour before my next class (9 when i started listening ot the radio if your not paying attention). and it was a station that sometimes pre-recorded thier morning show and i was only half listening and dozing. so i go to my english class at 10 and noone in that class said anything about what was going on, eather they didn't know or just wern't talking. that class ended and i went on to my 11 o'clock class where i met a good buddy from high school and he was not acting like himself. i asked him what was up. he was like, "didn't you hear? a plane crashed into the twin towers in NY!" i was like, "no, but didn't they say something like this when we went on our class trip to NY and the building was fine?" he was like, "yea but this is different one of the towers collapsed!" so basically i didn't know anything till like 11 that morning and wasn't reallly concerned untill i saw the footage on tv as to what happened. earlier that spring my class for a senior trip went to NYC. and if i can find it i have a pic of me and a close friend leaning on a pole with the towers in th skyline behind us. i'll scan it and share!
