As for the topic in question...I'm not impressed with that other truck. I'm fine with Ironhide remaining a Topkick; I don't think Peterbilt's started mass-producing trucks that look like Prime and you're not going to see a demand that Prime reformat into (fill in random large vehicle here). There's been no guarantee the Stingray Concept Corvette would be mass-produced either. They still make Hummer H2s, but if I remember the DVD extras correctly they had to customize it to turn it into what we know as Movie Ratchet.

Vehicle issues aside, I thought Michael Bay hates red, or at least filming vehicles with a lot of red in them, and that came into play with Hasbro and what color Prime should be.

 

If GM aren't happy about the Topkick being used, they can just leave him in robot mode.

Ironhide is fairly unlikely to have a signifcant role in 3 anyway.

 

I've read all the posts in this thread and SO MANY posters are under the delusion that a tough, red truck is going to match Ironhide's persona better.

1) Ironhide DOESN'T need to reformat; the Topkick is a bigger, badder ride.

2) ENOUGH with the wishing for RED on Ironhide. In G1, Ironhide NEVER lived up to his name. He transformed in a VAN! A friggin' VAN. He also spent more time on his back (getting Fixed Or Repaired Daily...by Ratchet) due to his getting his metal arse handed to him by 'Cons on so consistent a basis, that his death in the Animated Movie seemed less shocking than inevitable. Say what you want about the Bayformers, but it is in the Movieverse continuity that Ironhide was given his brass balls back...And it was done in a Big, Black Topkick!

The red truck IS cool though and should be used for a possible rival for Ironhide.

 

meh i really dont see what so special about this truck. Imao the topkick looks way better and more aggressive. Besides fords are known for their crappy quality. The lone exception being the GT. Bay has a deal with GM not Ford besides Bay already has a few topkicks bought for props so it being out production really doesn't matter.

Ha HA HA  Don't worry. I'm just pickin' on Ford 'cause it's easy to do so. As I said, the red truck IS cool. It's just NOT for Ironhide.

Off topic: Ford has released some really sharp looking Concepts at this past year's Auto Show. Someone posted a good photo of it on a Prowl for TF2 request thread.

Just remember, Ford DID bring Fixed Or Repaired Daily on itself for awhile. I didn't invent it.

 

Seriously, will anyone even notice if Ironhide was in the next movie or not?

Go look at the specs of a Topkick/4500 and tell me that it doesnt suit movie Ironhide's personality much more than some cheap sport truck trying to save the SVT name.....


And go look at one in person or find a pic with someone standing next to one.

Those things are MASSIVE.
