On the last showdown between generations, Animated Starscream defeated G1 Starscream by a unanimous decision. Now for another challenge.

The combatants on this thread share the same name, but only one will prevail. Between the G1, Robots in Disguise and Animated versions of Ultra Magnus, which one will prevail the victor?

 

R.I.D. Ultra Magnus

Has Blue-Bolt weapon,can combine with O.P. to form Omega Prime,has that "I'm taking charge" attitude the the other U.M.'s didnt which makes him arrogant but still ready to give all in a battle.

 

Yes, R.I.D. Ultra Magnus has the firepower and muscle, but his arrogance is his weakness.

G1 Magnus has the courage, but is somewhat lacking in leadership and firepower.

Animated Magnus doesn't need attitude. The sight of his Mass Hammer makes even the Dinobots quiver. Plus, he's more heavily-armed than R.I.D. Magnus.

Now I know why I dont usually dont get involved in polls:I was under the impression that they were meant for someone to express an opinion,not for someone else to give them the answer they want to see in order to start another pointless open-forum arguement.

 

I gotta go with Animated. His experience and sheer strength and firepower give him the edge...now if OP was involved, then I would go with RiD as Omega Prime would wipe the floor...

 

I went with RID Ultra Magnus because while he doesn't have the might of either G1 or Animated Ultra Magnus, RID UM isn't afraid to go all-out from the start, while G1 UM won't resort to violence unless absolutley neccessary, and Animated UM isn't as strong as his bulky figure would suggest (he got knocked back by Starscream with one blast, and Shockwave managed to seriously damage him when he got up close in his Longarm disguise), along with the fact he never used any of his 12 guns on his toy at all in the show (in fact, it appears he reverted to his Cybertron mode form after leaving Earth)

 

Hmm... tough one. I suppose I'll rule Animated out right now as he seems to have been trashed and his hammer taken without anyone even hearing the battle. And he can be a bit of a dick to anyone not in the Elite Guard.
G1 Ultra Magnus I'm going with the comics version who went toe to toe with a Unicron-powered Galvatron many times and survived. He's not as much of a dick as Animated although he did once try to have Optimus Prime executed (a misunderstanding of course). Too many tangles with Galvatron didn't do him much good though as it kinda put him off wanting to meet that guy ever again. But he did let a volcano blow up over him to trap Galvatron with him, which is pretty tough, especially when you consider the original plan was to destroy them both.
RID has the bad attitude, but also weapons and armour to back it up. Able to combine with Optimus and then go kick arse in the lava of deep underground he's not a wuss by any means.
For me it's RID, but with G1 a close second. Animated can go lay on a table in pieces somewhere and think about what he's done. Which didn't seem to be much.

 

Animated UM would get whooped by either younger UM and RID has more firepower than either G1 or Animated.

 

I'm going with RiD Magnus on this one. Animated Magnus, while cool, is pretty obviously past his prime, given his beatdowns by both Starscream and Shockwave on the show. From there it's just a matter of G1 vs. RiD and I think that the badass, "shoot first and ask questions later," "Clint Eastwood of Transformers" that is RiD Magnus would easily win that match.

 

Meh RID Magnus is nothing but an excuse for Prime to become bigger and whiney as all hell. G1 Magnus keeps living in everyone's shadow, no real ambition. Animated Magnus lead the Autobots, he commands respect, in his day I'm sure he was quite the warrior, and the hammer is bad ass.

I'm voting G1, because RID Magnus was a magic mushroom for Prime and TFA Magnus was somewhat corrupt.

 

I've got to go with G1, in the show he managed to go toe to toe with galvatron, in the Comics he stop galvatron and galvatron was a demi god in the comic but Magnus stopped him every time, sure he took damage, possible more to the mind than body but still UM took down galvatron, not many other people can say that in G1 Marvel, actually other than rodimus no one can in a one on one fight*.

*Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.

and for the record, i went with g1 magnus. altho one would think that his not being able to deal with it now would make him fall, not stand

 

I'm sure G1 Ultra Magnus would be far higher in the votes if everyone was going by the Marvel comics version. That damn cartoon version drags him down a bit.

Powermaster Optimus had a good punt at it in Time Wars but everyone had softened Galvatron up for him first.  

 

Plus I think Galvatron wasn't actually fighting Prime at that point at least not the real one given he'd gone totally bat shit insain by then.

 

You forgot an Ultra Magnus or two.

There's the guy in Micron legend(called Overload in Armada), and the energon redeco. Not sure how you'd count some of the prime redecos that are vague about which continuity they are from.

As for the poll itself. I'm going with G1 Ultra Magnus(Marvel more than the cartoon). I'm sure Animated Ultra Magnus was a good warrior in his prime, but he's not as as sharp as he once was.

RiD Ultra Magnus just doesn't have the badass levels that the other two have.(at least, not without his brother)

Really? That's not how I saw him.

He was stern and distant(probably due to the things he's seen and the tough decisions he's made), but he generally was pretty reasonable. His major weakness was his poor character judgement when it came to guys like Sentinel and Longarm.
