Why limit the run when no-one cares about it anyway?

Selling on the basis of exclusivity :peoples:

This kit should have it's whole production run burnt up. It's not worth anything.

I'm going to be really harsh since it's such a shame to see such a nicely designed figure be wrecked by the terrible execution.

This looks like garbage. Judging by the terrible grainy highlights on the figure, I can tell that it's a REALLY rough finish, which is inexcusable for such a "limited and exclusive" piece. The makers should have at least put in the investment (time) to get at least soft molds (BOTCON-quality molds) to make Drift out of injection molded plastic.

It'd be REALLY hard for a kitbasher to get the finished painted product to have at least a TOLERABLE sheen, let alone a nice gloss. I could only see this working with a satin/flat paint finish. Even then, that's a stretch.

Resin is a material that is used to prove concepts in 3-D, NOT as a final material, at least as far as an object of this nature.

I agree, I have the first one and trust me. Flat colors is the only way. I have been toying with a glossy clear coat to bring out the shine some. The woorst part is all the sanding you have to do as it is very very rough.

No one here should care. If this is like the original's release, then this version is limited only due to being available to the SGCollect board members. Their not making these for non board members outside of Singapore, like us. So all the hate makes it sad, its like "Oh, I can't get one, so I'm going to bash!".

Its like if I made my own garage kit, limited to 25 pieces, for local Vancouver TF fans. Then everyone outside of Vancouver, like the rest of Canada, and all of the US fans, start bashing it for its quality, expecting it to compete with FansProject's products. I doubt SGCollect even considers their stuff to compete with FansProject. Their doing these for fun for their small little community of fans, not for all of us. When SGCollect starts to sell stuff through BBTS and other retailers, then most of the comments in this thread will be warranted.

    Well said, Venksta.
But it would be interesting to see every province in Canada gets its own little custom kit for the local fan groups.

Really? You'll pay over 100 bucks for three swords and a sucky toy?

Yeap I remember your review. Did you ever get around to painting the rest of the figure and did it manage to mask the flaws?

Venks remember something though: the City Commander Joker Face was also supposed to be a SG Collect exclusive. Look what happenned after that. Furthermore the firts DFT-01 kit was also available to outside buyers. They just had to email Prodimus and make a $100.00 deposit.

I remember that. And they deserve all the negativity. They should of kept it as a lower run for their members only, instead of cashing in on the international demand/hype.

When I looked at the ordering info for the DFT-01 kit, you had to be a registered member on their board. Did they change the requirements? Right now, it seems those who bought the original kit, get first chance on getting this new version. Anyone who didn't buy the first one, goes on a waiting list.

Why are we even talking about this piece in the first place? :rolleyes2

I mean, this release should be ignored & forgotten till April Fool '10 in which we'll all have a hale & hearty laugh by then. ;)

    Word.

I just made you my favourite man for your quote. :thumbs2:

Like I said before, this just looks like a cheap KO of a non-existent toy.

They used to have a link for orders outside of SGCollect members. That's where the 100 dollar price for the first kit came from. For SGCollect members he cost 100 SGD, while non-board members were charged in US dollars.

    :lol

    $100? I would pay $300. Gladly.
    $100 for each sword.
Actually, that should be $400 because the uber-kewlest sword that he only uses in emergencies is probably worth $200.

Or, you know, I just like to make jokes about the need for three swords.

OMG, just do not understand why people are still buying this rubbish, or just buy his name Drift. Even those KO in the market do a better job than this kit. :wtf:

:inquisiti  Seriously, what's up with all the bashing?
The thing isn't even finished yet, is it? Went over to the sgcollect website and I think it looks pretty decent?
And 15000 SGD isn't a whole lot to cover expenses with molds, time, materials etc.

Anyhow, the saying goes if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say it..

    1. It's a build it yourself kit.
    2. One of the "bashers" in this thread actually owns the piece.
    3. Do you know how and with what materials this kit was produced?

So you honestly expect people not to give their opinion if they are not being nice? :inquisiti
