Eh, these aren't really doing it for me. Animated... THere's just so much personality in the deisgns, and if you just make them G1... Poof. The magic's gone. No, Animated's all the better for setting itself apart.
While I agree with you for Animated "setting itself apart" in style, I think the characters and designs will translate well in other styles. I like seeing the Animated designs in a "Classic" style, but I do see what you mean as well. That being said, I do like what this artist has going on and I like the direction he's going in.
I really like what you've done, and it's surprising really, for such stylized style Animated is ALSO extremely easy to translate into others! Only thing I'd change would be Ratchet's face, he needs to look older, like Kup.
I think converting Animated into G1 is interesting. It takes away the Animated personality, but it doesn't loose personality. While I enjoy looking at these pieces, I do agree that Animated was fine as it was. But it's still always fun to do that 'what if' thing.
That OP kicks ass! I hope you finish off Prowl and Ratchet. Also, you should make Bulkhead to the best of your ability, even thouhg he has no G1 counterpart.
