Don't the Joe Haters realize that this is still Harsbro's franchise? If their franchise fails there won't be any push or initiative to produce toys on this brands.

If TF fails = No Hasbro toys.
If GI Joe fails = No Hasbro toys either.

All of them are connected. Oh btw, declaring and that you are more mature than your age is a hint that your'e still immature.

Ya know, I had always thought the minimum age was 13. Then I went and looked at the rules and even logged out to the registration page, and nowhere does it require an age. I could have sworn there were issues/bannings in the past over age, but I have been wrong before. This maybe just another case of that.

I don't think anyone, not even Hasbro, expects G.I. Joe to make as much money as ROTF. I am still looking foward to seeing it, however.

Yeah, I was fairly certain it was a law, under COPPA or something like that.

People can still lie about their age when registering though. This is the internet.

Back on topic, GI Joe was a fun flick and I enjoyed it, despite me being a bigger Transformers fan. GI Joe was another thing I grew up with and I was happy to see a live action adaptation. People, or rather should I say, fanboys, aren't just open to new things. The thing they're a fan of is sacrilege. It's not even worth arguing with trolls. If Gi Joe becomes a success, who knows...we might get a TF crossover, which would be pretty cool.

I missed out on seeing it yesterday. My fiance said 'she didn't feel like it' - Well, I may not feel like seeing 'Astro Boy', hmf! :p
Crossover? Uhn... perhaps, but I'd prefer at least a trilogy of TF and Joe films before its even suggested. The big problem is how to link them. Thats always the biggest problem.
I still want to see 'Robocop vs Terminator' - but the project, as little info as there is, most of it false, keeps falling into a hole.
I think since 'Terminator: Salvation', we can see the real possibility of an Arnold T-800 vs Robocop. Anyway, off topic.

My friend made me watch Twilight (I made her watch TF) and I half-assed liked it...although it went completely against just about everything I know about vampires. Even still, I want those movies to succeed as well. For my friend's sake, and it is just good for everyone overall. I pick on her about being a Twilight nerd, but it's all good!

Why? What's funny about the name? Does your friend often laugh at inappropriate times?

Not really. I'm not overly fond of the Bay movies, but I really enjoyed GI Joe.

Sorry to mess up your theory.

I'm not really bothered whether GI Joe succeeds (no connection to the characters, little interest in the toys), but wouldn't GI Joe failing whilst Transformers succeeds cause Hasbro to put more resources into Transformers? GI Joe failing could be very good for Transformers fans.

Did I say YOU hate the movie? no I said those who DO hate the movies by Michael Bay would be great friends with those on the Hisstank forums who REALLY hate Rise of Cobra so you didnt really mess up anything to begin with.

Agreed, I havent seen the movie yet, i will this afternoon... But really, the concept of alien robots that hide as cars and stuff is a lot more laughable to me than a special ops team fighting global terror. But TF workled for the big screen... It looks like GI Joe can too, just that fans are doggin the shit out of it.

What started all the negativity??? Seriously, I dont get it??? Is it the robo suits? The black lether suits? What??? Come on people, this movie IS NOT STREETFIGHTER... Is it???

The production CANT be that bad... Please, someone comfort me! My split personalities just merged... Now I have full recollection of of StreetFighter: The Movie... Tear :(

The acting is a bit on the corny side and the CG effects aren't all that great. I really loved the action scenes though and thankfully the movie has a lot of them. As a kid, grew up mainly watching TF, with a tiny bit of GI Joe on the side but it was still enough for me to remember and understand the various character references in the movie. It has a very comic book/cartoon feel to it ('Black Hawk Down and 'Saving Private Ryan' it isn't) which I guess does its source material justice.

Overall its shortfalls are easy to overlook and it really is a great, enjoyable movie. I'd rate it higher than TF2 and I'm not all that big a Joe fan.

edit: It's nowhere near as bad as SF:TM was. Everytime I think of abomination, I just think of Van Damme's other, more successful, tournament movies like Bloodsport and Kickboxer. They're much more in line with what I'd expect from a SF movie.

We went to see GI Joe on Friday night and I was surprised there weren't any lines! That shocked the hell out of me. Even though I wasn't blown away with the movie, it was alright. I still liked ROTF better, the action sceens were what save GI Joe from me completely disliking it. Oh, and Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow those were always my favorite 2 and they were awesome. Duke seemed laughable at times with his lines...

Well, being a GI Joe fan since the 80's, I've read alot of spoilers and I really didn't like the following:

-Baroness & Duke being former fiancee.
-Scarlett likes Ripcord, instead of Snakeyes.
-Cobra Commander being former buddy of Duke and brother of Baroness, wears stupid looking mask instead of his iconic mask(s) from the toys and cartoon.
-Stormshadow carrying gun instead of bows & crossbows, and speak Korean; SS should've been Japanese.
    -Snakeyes has "mouth".
-Zartan isn't the "Master of Disguise" like he was in the cartoon & comics; he needed nanotech that CC provided him.
    -Acceleration suits, 'nuff said.
    ..etc.

IMO Sommers just have way too many unnecessary changes to my liking, so I'm going to skip it. Seeing it in theatre will just encourage the possibility of sequels.

Actually, closer to 6 mil to go. I think it will make it. But at its current rate of decline, it'll be at least another 5 weeks before it does. Sometime after Labor Day.

Well I just got back from seeing G.I. Joe and I really liked it. I was completely prepared to hate it and be let down. But in all honesty it is a fun, enjoyable popcorn movie. As to the changes the movie made.
-Baroness & Duke being former fiancee.... So.
-Scarlett likes Ripcord, instead of Snakeyes... actually she likes Duke in the 'toon. Comic isn't the only Joe continuity.
-Cobra Commander being former buddy of Duke and brother of Baroness, wears stupid looking mask instead of his iconic mask(s) from the toys and cartoon... no worse than SE, SS, and Stalker all knowing each other form 'Nam along with one of the first Crimson Guards in the comics.
-Stormshadow carrying gun instead of bows & crossbows, and speak Korean; SS should've been Japanese... a smart fighter uses any advantage he can get.
-Snakeyes has "mouth"... O.K. I'll admit that was lame.
-Zartan isn't the "Master of Disguise" like he was in the cartoon & comics; he needed nanotech that CC provided him... O.K. which is dumber and guy who can change skin color like a mutant or a guy who get's injected with nanotech to achieve it... matter of personal tastes there is all.
-Acceleration suits, 'nuff said... as much as peopel bitch about these, they are only used in one chase scene of the movie for the most part.

IMO people are going to bitch about G.I. Joe not "staying true" to the source material the same way some complained about Transformers not "staying true". I'll be honest I was one of those ready to complain, but I went in to the theater with an open mind about G.I. Joe and was pleasantly surprised.

    BRING ON THE SEQUEL!!!!!!!!

You said "Those who hate the Bay movies..." and I guess since I don't hate them, I may not fit in. But I could certainly do without them, and don't think they're all that good. And I like GI Joe. So not all of us dislike the same things.

I was worried about every single thing you were, and ended up really liking it. And I'm a cranky old fan from the 80's, too. You may shock yourself and enjoy it. I was shocked as hell. And I enjoyed it far more than RotF.

Only thing is that Channing Tatum is an incorrigibly bad actor.
