That's cool! I love that Blurr concpet, I've always thought that vehicle would make a good Alt-mode, nice job working it in. Kind of random in your choices of characters for the combiner, but they are all very cool! I think that Bulkhead concept is cute! Beachcomber is also a cute idea, he always was a "hippy" Transformer
that's cool...but That's pretty impressive. Its a unique take with some very unique robots combining. I think you really understood the spirit of this contest well. This is my favorite combiner in this contest because of how out in left field it is. I think people are over-obsessing about combiners because of their disappointment with Devastator and just the sheer "cool" factor surrounding them. Bruticus is good, Menasaur is alright, I think someone even did a Trypticon. The point of this is the combiner concept is getting old, and you breathed some new life into it. Good work. but... why make beachcomber a hippie? I know why you would and its a good design but I still gotta defend my favorite character. (I was going to design a beachcomber concept for this contest but July flew by too fast, I'll get one in the gallery/radicons section soon enough...)
It was a design choice I made very early on, I now it seems a little off but because of the way the combine, Hotrods head is used as the combined head so I didn't want to do anything to it that would change the size drastically. The only difference between Rodimus and Hot Rod are two panels on the top and two on the bottom of hotrods head move upwards and the side expand to bring out two antenna. Lol... My reasoning for the character choices...... When I first heard about the contest I really wanted to do something I thought wouldn't be done. I really wanted to be as original as possible with something that was well known and at the same time have everyone feel happy with the choices I made. In the back story I have in the post it explains the idea I had for the character of Minor ( I don't know if anyone has actually taken the time to read....lol it's long and I'll just say Im not the best at writing) Basically My idea was for Minor's spark to be split into four different bot's, Each one of them containing a piece of his spark and personality. Each being a separate part & at the same time being one. Beachcomber is the side of Minor that preferred piece over fighting, but felt like it was his last option to keeping Cybertron and his friends and family safe. I don't know if My Beachcomber is Truly a "Hippie" I think he just feels a connection to the "idea'' of piece and harmony, thus adopting there "cultural refrences" to match what he feels? I hope that made sense.....lol just as a side note he is also the teams Technical officer, I dont now if you can see it in the picture because of it's size but it says it He has a alternate head mode where his visor comes down and a microphone comes out the on side of his headset. I didn't get it all done up in color so I decided to leave it out for the time being..... maybe after the contest I post it in a gallery. Basically in the end I chose the Characters I did because they fit very well into the Idea and vision I had for the "complete" version of the character. My decisions on everything in my post were all thought out extensively before I began, Because of the use of the more well know characters I knew that I would be walking a thin line and doing something that people would either like or complete hate because of the use character and there reasoning behind them. Hopefully that give a little more insight to all my decisions. Hopefully you'll have time to do up your beachcomber design, it would be great to see. And Maybe I'll do up a non Hippieized version later on..lol Anywho, Thank you all for the comments they are very much appreciated.
OMFG I love Bulkead and Blurr! I love how you kept Bulkhead's Animated look but made it movie-fied. Blurr is also amazing and I love how his legs can combine to form a wheeled rig; I dunno why, I just love characters that can roll in robot mode.
Not sure why this didn't make it to top 10 because Beachcomber alone is worth the price of admission. Imagine the possibilities of a hippie or stoned Autobot talking with Bay's Skids and Mudflap.
