Apparently for this one the word traveled very fast. What my friend had said was not that the prices in Singapore were dropping but that nobody was buying the Bruticus release like the usual Encore releases has been in the past. It was so bad that some stores are forcing them to buy the Bruticus and cassettes release as a pair. There were no price differences though. My friend expects this to go to 40 USD before he would even consider pulling the trigger.

Yep, unless the person I know has the same friend as you. He was able to get it shipped to Canada for $40 a piece but the best he get the cassettes for me was $38. (unless of course he's got tricked into buying KO's).

 

Perhaps that Bruticus is not selling well not because of the mold damge but maybe because everone and their grandma already has a version of it? I really hope this doesn't affect their opnion to do more combiners in the future. I have a feeling it will though.

 

I remember Digital Toys having a sale on Perceptor and Hound. Yeah, the original reissues didn't go on clearance because everyone was like OMG REISSUES!!!! but now... 20 primes later... they are on sale. i got sunstrom and black Megatron on clearance for like 100 bucks awhile back 

Obviously, the best sales were the Hasbro Reissues... I remember 5, 6 dollar toys on Amazon with free shipping. Oh the memories....

 

WHAT!!! Man I feel like a RE-**** (Hangover reference)!!! I just paid 90 bucks for it.... oh well..... I'll take a bunch of photos of it when it arrives still.

 

I seriously don't think it looks that bad. To me the G1 pictures of Bruticus look photoshopped. There's no way that the pictures could show how clear the G1 Bruticus is compared to the Encore unless the G1 Bruticus got photoshopped or was photographed by use of a higher quality camera. Besides, I don't have a combiner and Bruticus will be my first!  Unless you count the KO Devastator I got off ebay that broke in a day.   One other thing, how is the plastic cheap? They must of used the same plastic for the rest of the Encores. 

 

I bought a Dirge reissue for $3 at Toys 'R Us.

Most people paid $90. I think he got it shipped direct from Japan (or China, whatever).

 

Mines are at the post office right now. I'll pick them up tomorrow and take some pics.
And I didn't pay 90 a piece for them.  

 

Thats what I'm thinking! That G1 Bruticus looks a little fake if you ask me. Maybe they shined it up?

oh ok, makes sense. On ebay ACtoys wanted 110 shipped to the USA. I passed on that one and brought mine from BBTS.

Mine's waiting at the P.O too. And after the mould rape I wouldn't really expect better.

I got mine from HLJ and paid $90 in total for it.

Cheap plastic????? No way!
I didn't study 'plastic quality' science, but I've seen many cheap quality toys
and this is definitly not one of them.
For the mold degradation I can't compare, because my loose Bruticus is long gone. I'm more of a MIB collector now.
But if you say these things are pressed (or vulcanized I think it is) with a worn mould, I'd say "Go find a job!!

Conclusion: Great quality plastic, no mold issues whatsoever!
You can buy this thing and won't be dissapointed.


@mods: please clear this on the front page section, the Encore Bruticus doesn't deserve this!

EDIT: I wish Takara would of put a hole on Swindles shoulder so you could display his gun like an Arm cannon, similar to the cartoon.

Yeah, the arm cannon for Swindle would've been nice, but I honestly don't see a whole lot of room to put it on there.

 

I ordered two, and one Cassette tape (like the photos above). Mine are waiting for me at the post office.

True, The only swindle i've had is that RID repaint but yeah... the hole would of probably taken up his whole arm. Still would of rocked however
