"His eyes are wrong" will probably become the next Transformer fan meme as more of these reissues go for cartoon accuracy.

    What's wrong with Skids?

These are big reasons why I am not enamored with the updated Constructicon, Combaticon and Aerialbot combiners. Admittedly, I may not be so averse to them if the original toys took this route, instead of using distinct designs for each team member.

The "new" combaticons are freakin terrible, same with those constructicons and aerialbots. 3 molds for a 5 bot combiner set? That's just lazy. And they seem to have better articulation, but no hands or feet? And why are the guns(which make up the hands and feet) all that obnoxiously colored translucent plastic?

And it also took another company a couple years to put together hands and feet for "superion"(those parts actually do make it look damn good, it's tempting to get...)

Back to this encore set. I did buy them, but I already have a metal chested combaticon set. These guys, are staying in their box. Why? Because I like the box, and they can sit in it, on the shelf. In regards to the comments about other encores like omega supreme dropping in price, skylynx also tanked in price, but I think that honestly has more to do with the initial retail pricepoint.

I know the quality is bad, but I'm probably still going to get this set. I want some actual G1 combaticons, and this is the easiest way to get a complete, mint set.

it just needs some silver paint on the combiner parts like the original.

Anyone getting that Combaticons upgrade set from repro labels? I might just buy the Bruticus chest set. It would cost a lot to buy every single upgrade set.

since the colors on the encore figures is matched to the TV show, and not the original toys, the reprolabels upgrade sticker set isnt going to match it.

I checked out the sets on their website and I don't see any major conflicts colorwise, aside from maybe the Onslaught chest plate.

I already have all those upgrade sets, but haven't used the Combaticon stickers because I didn't want to obscure so much of my vintage set. But I do plan on using them on my Encore set

All this makes me a sad panda

I, like many others, was waiting for this with great anticipation because I never got to own a minty Bruticus. Heck, I never had a full combiner as a kid, just the occasional limb(s)

Funny thing: a few months ago I dug up an old vintage Vortex from the basement. While transforming it the platic on his arm snapped!  Just like that! Say what you want about "quality" on the originals, these are still 20+ year old toys (be careful out there, all yous guys!!)

Still not cancelling my order, though.
#1: I bought every Encore up to this point, no reason to stop now (just got back into collecting about 2 years ago, perfect timing w/ the Encore line)
#2: If Bruticus' sales numbers are poor, who knows how it'll effect their willingness to Encore future combiners ie. Devastator

I no fan of teh energon combiners either, lacklustre individual bots (they arent terrible though) and the cobined modes i find really, really weak.

re the drop in price of toys like OS and skylynx, ignoring value for money it seems that something around $80 becomes too much for many to put down on one toy, even if accumulated expense on cheaper toys exceeds that. consider that many are feeling supreme rotf devastator to be expensive at $100 but EZ legends set at $60 seems a worthwhile purchase despite being about the size of a larger delux toy (all other things being equal)

    I'm all mixed up when I looked at my Encore Bruticus;

While happy that it finally gotten the Reissue it deserved, I'm just as sad because of the lack of Diecast metals present. Suddenly, I missed the good old days when they are in styrofoam. (Sigh!)

Am I normal to feel this way? :sly2:

its perhaps more frustration when toys manufactured 20+ years ago are seemingly of higher quality than many today, or at the very least, when a company tried to recreate an old toy the result is actually inferior instead of inevitably slightly different, im sure if takar made the decision to honestly match the quality they could but it probably wouldnt be cost effective for them.

Yeah, I don't get that either. I can understand why they wouldn't want to stray too far from the original toy with their colour changes. But Swindle had a purple chest in both the cartoon and one variation of the toy, so it's odd that they went with the grey chest.

Maybe Swindle's formerly die-cast chest is on the same mold piece as Brawl's formerly die-cast treads. They look like a match, as do Vortex and Blast Off's chest pieces. Too bad they couldn't at least get some paint on Swindle's chestplate.

Not sure what condition yours were in, but I do know that exposing TFs to sunlight or lots of fluorescent lights can chemically change them, which discolors them as well as making them more brittle. I definately noticed this on my Aerialbots, particularly Fireflight and Slingshot.

Not a problem, I'll post comparison photos of my vintage set and Encore with Reprolabel upgrades.

We'll have to wait a bit as my Encore order isn't shipping until a few more items come in.
