It's last week's Superman story from DC's weekly Wednesday Comics.

Will say I'm enjoying this so far. Though on the toy front, I think there's only one Black Lantern I want now and that's Firestorm (funny that I also just got the DCUC Firestorm figure) I just dig his design over the rest of them.

Story wise, well just waiting who's next to join the BLs

I think this must take place not to long after Flash: Rebirth/ Legion of 3 Worlds is supposed to be done. BTW, this was awsome, once again proof that DC made th right call in making Johns their exclusive writer. I just hope that not all the major supporting characters die (Louis, Jimmy, Perry, Iris, Alfred, etc)

Caught up last night. Had Blackest Night #1, Tales of the Corps, and Titans #15 to read.

I'm blown away with how good this is. I just want to keep reading more.

How closely does that issue tie in with Blackest Night anyways? One review I saw said that it was fairly tangential to the story and not a necessary read. I'm planning to get the BN:Titans mini-series, but not sure whether I need to should spring for Titans #15 as well.

I wouldn't say it really ties in too closely. Maybe some foreshadowing regarding Aquaman, but that's probably it. It really just focuses on Garth or Aqualad, or whatever the hell his name is.

It was in my pull since I wanted all Blackest Night titles, and I almost didn't buy it. But I guess I found it interesting since I never read a Titans book before, and it touched on what was going on in the Batman books too so I thought that was pretty cool.

I thought Star Sapphire was a villian? Is this a different one than the one that appears in JLU?

They never actually revealed the identity of the Star Sapphire in JLU. Although according to part of a Bruce Timm interview from SDCC 2001 I found, she was supposed to be Carol Ferris who apparently had a psychotic break down and developed Star Sapphire as a secondary personality.

As for Star Sapphire being a villain... Yeah, she has been a villain, although in the Mystery of the Star Sapphire storyline, it was shown that the possessive nature of Star Sapphire gem (previously the source of Star Sapphire's powers) forced the actions of those it took control of. However, after Hal tricked it into taking possession of one of the Zamarons, they decided to create the Star Sapphire rings instead of using the gem in order to over come the gem's possessive and self-destructive tendencies. Although being on the far end of the emotional spectrum, their power is said to still be more dangerous and difficult to control.

GL 44 and Tales of the Corps 2 came out today. TOTC had a red and orange lantern story and also the Carol Ferris Star Sapphire story. Very good read.

GL dealt with Barry and Hal meeting zombie Martian Manhunter. Okay story but it seems like GL might be taking a back burner to the main Blackest Night book.

It's really just an issue to re-introduce Tempest and kind of set him up to take the Aquaman mantle. It's not at all required reading. His appearance in Blackest Night #1 tells you pretty much everything you need to know.

GL #44 and BN: TotC #2 kind of took a back-burner for me yesterday after the suckfest that was the ending of Lo3W, but they were fairly good issues.

GL #44 had some neat bits, particularly the explanation of Scar's status and the Martian Manhunter's "strong as Superman" line, but I didn't think it contributed much to the War of Light. I'm OK with this issue not doing anything vital to Blackest Night, since all of that should be kept to the central mini as much as possible, but there's a lot of other stuff going on. How about an update on the Blue vs Orange battle? Or what the Red Lanterns have been doing since they mentioned going after Sinestro's daughter...and then dropped off the radar almost completely. I get that Johns likes writing "Hal and Barry" scenes, but I think too much time was spent on their banter instead of furthering the overall story. Also, I could have sworn there was an interview where it was mentioned this issue would feature the debut of another one of the emotion beasts, but that didn't appear to happen.

BN: TotC #2 was better than I expected, especially Carol's exasperated reaction to the ring showing up in the beginning of the Star Sapphire story. I wonder if Carol's just going to lead the Star Sapphires, or if they're going to set her up as the host for the Predator. Concerning the Red Lantern story, I thought Atrocitus didn't create the Red Lanterns until some time after the Sinestro Corps War, but this story shows Bleez getting a Red Lantern ring midway through SCW before Ranx is fully destroyed.

i dug GL 44, and TotC 2...though that book should really only be 2.99 in my opinion...content doesn't feel as worth 4 bucks...but still fun...don't know how i'm gonna afford the rest of the minis coming out...might drop a few more titles...and try to get more stuff to sell at the LCS...

but as much as i dug those two books...they both took a backseat to invincible this week...that book was awesome...gonna go start a thread about it now...
