Wise move, I sold the Rhino set's to get the complete Shout Factory set for as what you said I wanted the technically superior set, but honestly it was kinda a waist seeing as how I hardly ever go back and watch the G1 toon.

But hopefully at least with these cheaper releases people will acually go out and buy it now instead of just pirating everything.

watched the extra disk via netflix, having 3 (or some number equally small) commercials is almost an insult. And they were really poor copies, no better then what you find on youtube and worst of all the blurr out the kids faces! wtf

They had to blur out the faces due to not being able to track down the kids to get their ok to be on the discs.

I was please with this release. It was done very nicely and quality is perfect. All the episodes are intact from original series. Sound quality of original score, sound effects, and actors voice are intact. It doesn't sound like garble. Like it does on the Rhino release. The extra gives a good back ground to series for someone new to transformers universe. The commercial are typical eighties and quality would not to be as todays commercial. But good for archive purposes. Other than all commend Shout Factory for correcting errors and restoring the original sound.

What get's me about the blurred out faces is on the GI Joe set there is a bonus material that talks about the original 60's Joe and it features a commercial and the kids face is not blurred out? Ok so a 40 year old commercial is fine to show the kid's face but a 25 year old commercial isn't?

Just picked this up at Walmart today and one thing I really like it the option to play multipart episodes seamlessly. More tv show sets should have that feature.

the DBZ box sets have a Marathon feature. Plays the opening to the first episode, then does each episode back to back with no opening or closing credits for the rest of the disk. just wall to wall episode..

Wow. That's perfect for an anime like DBZ.

There could be many, many reasons for this. It's not as simple as deciding to blur the faces or not.

People REALLY care that much about the blurred faces? As for why the old GI Joe commercials weren't blurred, the explanation is probably something as simple as a different marketing company involved with different contracts. Not really a big deal.
