I would tell you to buy it and that it's awsome except you can't play it. I got in a short private match and had a lot of fun but ... Typical of EA and every Battlefield game released it doesn't work right away. According to the Dice guys the amount of people buying it and playing it was much higher than expected so servers can't match the demand (also the Demo). The only way to play is hope that some one leaves and you can get in. Private matches don't work either, they require a server slot as well and will pop up that no games were found, try again later when you try to start it. The last update says that you will get disconnects as they add servers until 17:30. So at 5:30 I might be able to play but the flood of people getting off of work will probably cipple it again. The BF forums aren't much help either as the majority of the people there are defending EA and stroking Dice's cock. Nevermind the fact that they haven't even put any updates into the US forums, you'll have to go to the UK forums to find them. Sorry but I payed money/Allards for a game that I can't play. There is no single player to this game, just a small tutorial that doesn't even have bots.
What console have you got it for, or you playing it on PC? When i saw the trailers and interviews it looked awesome and something I really wanted to play even though I've never really played a battlefield game.
360, PC version won't be out until September and the PS3 version is tomorrow. I was planning on buying it for PC too but not any more. BF games will be a two week to a month wait for me from now on.
Hurray for on 360, boo for the problems so far. Never knew it was so popular. I'm gonna get it tonight then and just wait until tomorrow to get some games in.
Gah I was gonna get this to hold me over till BF:BC2 but I wasn't too pumped for the WWII setting and still small amount of players so it slipped under my radar and hearing this now isn't making me want to go out and get it much anymore..
It's not even up in the Games marketplace. You either need to go to Xbox.com and buy it or go to the game videos --> BF1943 and download it from there. Also still not able to get into a match.
On the other hand Battlefield Bad Company 2 is gonna be the awesome. Fully destructible buildings FTW.
DLed the demo and will actually try to get lucky enough to play later. They really should have had the possibility of over-capacity in their minds before they put this up.
Mine red ringed today. Locked up once on the dashboard then 3 times while playing Red Faction. Started it up and got some graphics corruption, another lock up and then the red rings. It started back up and I played the tutorial a bit in BF43 and it locked up again. Off to the repair center it goes. Hopefully BF43 will be working by time I get it back. The damn Launcher runs like ass on my comp. Something about my set up hates any game thats run in windowed mode. Its seriosuly at 1 frame every 3 seconds. If I cover it up it'll load everything in faster but trying to do anything in it blows. Also I keep getting kicked every few rounds by Punk Buster error 22. Looks like I'm not the only one but theres no fix yet. I wish Punkbuster was as transparent as it's supposed to be, always giving me a headache.
I was contemplating getting it, but then I saw the servers can only have 20 or so players on, which is lame! If I can play with 63 other people in BF2142 or BF2, why the hell would I want to play with just 20 or so people on BF3? Freaking lame. Dice really dropped the ball on this one. Hopefully they'll have a "real" new BF game coming out soon.
I've been playing this alot, throughly been enjoying it even if does like to lock up my xbox often. The achievements came flowing without even really trying which I like, stops people cheating or ruining a game just for the achievements. 12 v 12 is a little low but can't complain as it runs well and you at least stand a chance of lasting a while without getting raped. When its 30 v 30 in other games for example you spend a lot of time re-spawning due to more people poking bullets into me Also you need some decent skill to fly the planes, I can sorta fly one but it always fails with me flying into the ground quite quickly
Its been working decently for me. Trying to play with friends still seems broken even though they say they've fixed it. Got in once out of twenty or so tries with a friend, then we ended up on opposite teams the next round. Been having a lot of fun and doing pretty well, I've gotten all of the achievements except the 30/100 matches from normal play. The maps have been shrunk a little bit from their BF 1942 counterparts, probably to make use of the smaller team sizes (BF42 was capped at 32, 16 v 16, but there were work arounds, anything more than 32 in most games is unplayable for me though). I can fly the planes pretty well, shooting down other planes I fail at. I have yet to get the lead distance down to drop a plane yet, I do better on strafing/bombing runs. The fight on Land/Air/Sea is misleading, BF1942 had destroyer ships and subs that were pilotable. Even the aircraft carriers could be moved but 43 just has the transport boats. It has locked up my 360 a few times and people at the official forums are still defending a busted game with their mouths full. Bf is the only game hard locking my system yet its some how my (brand new and the one I just sent in to be fixed) 360s fault. The game seems slightly rushed too. The Japanese use a German Sniper Rifle, according to the devs this was because they have the german rifle and could model and produce sounds for it. The planes landing gear raises as soon as someone gets in one so it just floats there as it goes down the runway. The soldier has a wrench for his knife, the wrench can be used to repair vehicles but isn't stated any where. The damn rifleman's grenade needs to be toned down, every game ends up with a noob tube and it's usually sonme form of grenade like this. The Japanese Soldier's gun isn't as powerful as the US one which leads to many deaths on that side for me.
Hearing these things about locking up the console or even bricking it has confirmed my decision to not download this.
I've tried to log on to the Demo using my EA Online login and it won't let me saying that it can't connect to the server. It really must be popular.
GVD from the UK 1943 forum - theres also some firewall tweaking that can be done Xbox 360 Trial Users: Microsoft does not allow Trial users without an EA Online account already to be required to have an account. Because of this we create a spoof account that that you never see happens. For odd reasons some of this get stopped for connecting to EA Online. We put out a fix in our log in system, but seems this didn't help everyone. One way to solve this is like mentioned above, so if you think this is the case you can fix this by downloading a newer EA Demo of a full game that allows you to create a real EA Online account on Xbox 360. It make a Xbox 360 persona and attach it to your EA Online account you now made and use the same created persona in Battlefield 1943. Creating this account should solve it and please use and email and make a password you'll remember. You can use this account for any Online EA game and log into EA.com with the email and password you created.
Any suggestion as to what trial game I could download to do this? Thing is, I already have an EA Online account set up (had one from C&C for the PC), but not one set up from the 360.
