I dunno. There's plenty of goofy subcultures that are associated with white people, and I don't spend a minute worrying or assuming I'm a part of them just because I'm white. I remember a white kid that worked for me years ago when I was an assistant manager in fast food. He got changed in the office one day after his shift was over and for whatever reason was in a hurry to head out. I watched him run past me with his pants oh so fashionably pulled down (this is over a decade ago, btw) and the silly bastard had to run like a penguin to accomodate his wardrobe decision. I think we should all be free to lampoon whatever silly choices our fellow humans make without worrying about race. As to their facial appearance, I always just assumed they had seen a Picasso painting when they made that choice...
However you see the twins, the sad thing is that this is how Bay sees comic-relief for today's young people. I am surprised Bay did not have Prime sucker punch Devastor in his juevos while screaming "Who is your daddy?"

maybe theyre a little racist in someways but not too much. they seem more like theyre just young and i think this is shownbest when they are arguing in egypt i saw the movie the 2nd time w/ my sister and her four year old. he never quoted or laughed at the twins and he said he didnt like them. but when lennox called that galloway guy a dumb ass, my nephew kept repeating "dumbass, dumbass, dumbass" i thought that this was hilarious but the point is humans are the bigger bad influences. just sayin is all
Fact is kids really do love the twins, and most of these pissed people are white, which is striking me as really f'n odd. After I saw the movie, in which the audience loved the twins, I went to Walmart across the way and all kinds of people were buying their kids TF toy's, and guess which two they were all buying?! Does nobody watch MTV just to see how many racist black stereotypes are on there making money off being offensive and degrading women? Now do the stanky leg, now hit the booty doo, do you guys even know what they're talking about? But yeah we should hate Bay, your all right, how dare he make characters that sell toys and kids love. The only brothers I know that thought the film was in bad taste, hate every other race themselves. Sure the twins are probably racist, but it takes one to spot one. Most of the brothers I know loved the Twins b/c they know some wankstas just like the twins, I know I do. What about real race issue's that people are being shot over in the streets right now? Guess that does't matter b/c Bay hates blacks. Actually I think he does hate Obama just b/c if you think about the reality of the movie, Bush let Nest run around for two yrs. and then Obama puts a moron like Galloway in charge almost destroying the galaxy. And don't argue b/c Bush was spoofed in TF1 and Obama was mentioned and seen on TV in this one.
I don't like the twins either, but people should get over it. They are just one aspect of the movie and it's not the dealbreaker for me.
Wow, I hope you guys remembered your blood pressure meds. This is just sad. Do we really care if Bay passed the buck? Are a lot of people really offened by this movie? I'd say about $109 million worth of people weren't. I'd bet it'll rake in a good chunk next weekend too. I must say for the twins though, I wasn't bothered. They were funny. And I don't recall them saying they "can't" read, I believe they said they "don't" read, it's "not their thing". I know a lot of people who don't read, doesn't make them illiterate. I don't think there's any racist thingy going on with the twins. When I saw it, it looks like 2 twin brothers who is always quarreling, just like my twin brothers in my family. In fact, I went and watch it with them, and when they came out of the theaters, they were quarreling just like Skids & Mudflap does. One was calling the other one stupid, and the other called the other one jackass or something lie that. My twin brothers were quarreling because one of them decide to change seat in the cinema without telling the other.
Just because alot of people do something doesn't make it right. Kids are easily influenced, and it's the responsability of older adults to make sure they don't jump on just any bandwagon. Actually they said, "We don't read much" People seem to keep forgetting that "much" part, because it implies they actually CAN read, and if they acknowledge that was said then they can't bitch about them. Why bring in these characters people have memories of (with G1 namesakes) like Arcee and Sideswipe and then have these very obvious marketing ploys instead? Because they'll sell to the wannabes in the audience. That's why I've always been a Prime fan. He's the antithesis of that mentality. Values intelligence and wisdom, strength and honor.
From a business standpoint it's pretty smart. All the old fans will buy Arcee and Sideswipe just based on the name alone. Market the new guys to the kids and sell twice as much. I like it when Hasbro makes money. It means they'll make even more TF's and cartoons.

Thad did wonders for Jar Jar. Give a character enough exposure and a kid will probably end up wanting the toy. Bumblebee and Prime are pretty much the staple characters of the film. If we had seen more Sideswipe and Jolt for example, kids would flock to them. Heck, we're getting a Human Alliance Sideswipe. Overly annoying characters are and will always be annoying. The twins are simply annoying much in the way that Jake Lloyd and Jar Jar are.
For me, anyway, it's not about "defending Bay", it's about little babies getting all pissed off and offended over nothing! I don't get offended at un-necessary bullshit, I'm just trying to get people to see things with a more open mind.

He should make his characters more like Transformers Animated instead. Then instead of racist characters, he could have children enjoying such wonderfully PC characters as 70s Blaxploitation film "Funky Ninja" Jazz, Colonel Clink/Angry Arnold nazi Blitzwing, vaguely European and incredibly dumb Jetfire and Jetstorm, big stupid hungry clumsy fat guy Bulkhead, british autobot Highbrow who despite being a robot has bad teeth... That's ironic. I always considered Prime the exact same as these "wannabes". He's always in your face, being advertised the most. People just put the good things over all the "THEY'RE SELLING US HIM" because of Optimus Prime blinders.
Never my intention. Honestly, like I said...if you weren't offended by the twins, I don't think any less of you. You people are probably mostly adults and should have the ability to decide for yourself what you find offensive. But if you feel the need to imply that people who were offended have no right or reason to be...or worse, that they're racist themselves, then there's no excuse for that. The issue is important to some people, and others are trolling the offended parties as if they were arguing something as petty as the merits of GoBots.
