From boxofficemojo: Estimated that ROTF brought in $40.6 million dollars Saturday, bringing it's domestic total to $166,646,000 since Wednesday. The Saturday total is the 2nd highest day for ROTF, having $60 Million Wednesday, $28 million Thursday, $36 million Friday, and now $40 million Saturday.
oh noes, it's failing at the box office! it must be he worst movie evar! quickly, everyone who likes it anyway, throw yourselves off cliffs! on the serious side, this is a good sign for the global economy. more spending means more disposable income, so the world may be bouncing back! well not so much bouncing as gradually stumbling up but meh.
No, it simply means that when times are rough people will continue to go to the movies to escape their troubles like they've always done historically. A movie's success the least dependable sign of a stumbling up effect. And congrats to ROTF.
Weekend estimates are in. Weekend Box Office Results for June 26–28, 2009 There it is. 112 million for the weekend. Estimated. This puts it 2.6 mil behind The Dark Knight's five day opening. TF2 totalled 201.2 mil over 5 days. Let's all help it get that 2.6 mil today and be the fastest five day grosser ever.
Yeah, would be awesome if we could help it get that 2.6 needed throughout the day. In anycase the estimates are approximate, so they could be higher, but then could be lower. If we were to say that the movie made an additional 866,666 per day, then it would surpass TDK. Here's hoping this movie lands a record.
Already saw the movie twice and will see it again one of these days. This is the first time I'll watch a movie more then 2 times in cinema. And I wouldn't have watched it more then 2 times, but it's just too damn awesome. And I hope it beats TDK, because ROTF is a 1000 times better IMO. TDK was boring at moments and ROTF isn't boring at all. TDK is way overrated and got a lot of money, because of Heath Ledger's death. But that's what I think. So GO ROTF!
if thats true that means it rotf makes 34+ mil today it will hit 200 mil by monday and with no real competition for the next 2 weeks it should hit 500 mil or and hopefully maybe 1 billion by years end
I know the new Ice Age movie comes out Wednesday, so there might be some competition from that. I know I have to take the wife and kids to see that one. I think I will balance it though and go see ROTF at least 3 more times in the next week and a half, LOL!
Can someone combine this thread with the original thread that started these numbers already? http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-movie-discussion/243183-rotf-box-office-totals-discussion.html
You don't get these kind of BO numbers without a lot of repeat business and referrals, so the word of mouth must be a lot better than many critics of the movie are saying. I am sure it'll pass the $300 million in a little more than a week, and $400 million is a very real possibility at this point.
