The question I have is does the word expand simply mean its the same shot but it's you know "expanded" to imax proportions so you see more of the shot?
There was no "extra" footage, just much bigger and clearer images that would be cropped down heaps for the regular cinemas. So basically what the posters before me said.
so does that mean that certain shots which I found hard to decipher in a regular cinema, would be much clearer, and easier to comprehend in imax? do you reckon the full shots will make it to Blu-ray like they did with the dark knight?
I'm assuming they will. If they have this HD footage laying around, they'll use it for the BD release.
Was anyone here disappointed with some of the CGI? I sax it at IMAX and thought the squid that flew into Sam's mouth to scan his brain looked real fake. The forest fight looked a little choppy and the scenes in space with Megatron and Starscream didn't look too hot either. I see why there was little dialogue in the first one. In order to make it look good you have to put a lot of time and money into it. Something the studio and director didn't want to do. I like the realistic looking stuff, even if if they are just standing around.
I thought the shots of Optimus when he is NEST talking to the president's representative had almost flawless CGI - i was in awe of Optimus just standing there, occasionally turning from one side to another and talking.
The resolution on a regular cinema screen is far beyond HD anyway (hence the reason they can release HD versions of old movies). All footage has to be scaled down to fit HD regardless of whether it came from a regular cinema or IMAX. I doubt you would be able to tell the difference.
I agree - it certainly didnt have the polished look of the first one. The compositing wasnt too good in some of the scenes and definately had the "blue screen" look about it.
What we were referring to were the scenes with the IMAX cameras, and you can tell the difference between those scenes and those with regular cameras. The details are far more noticeable and the imagery is much crisper. If you have The Dark Knight on BD, watch the opening scene sitting really close and then watch the scenes afterwards (you can tell which ones are which because the non-IMAX scenes are letterboxed). The difference is there. The IMAX-filmed footage will be in the ROTF BD release.
The aspect ratio difference between normal and IMAX scenes was minimal at the IMAX viewing I went to. Honestly I wouldn't have noticed the difference if I didn't look directly at the top of the screen to see if the black bar was there. Much different than when I saw The Dark Knight on IMAX, that is a very noticeable difference.
So do the imax screens show in the regular theater cause i didn't notice the expanding shots except for when devastator is climping up the hill
Those who have seen it in IMAX I am going to see it my second time tommarrow, and this time I am going to IMAX. My questions are I haven't found anyone commenting on what's new, does anyone know? But more importantly I wanna know if it's worth it cause the fifth time I saw the first one was in IMAX, and I liked the smaller screen better! So did I sit in the wrong seat or what's the deal, I have yet to enjoy an IMAX movie.
I saw it in imax. The theater shook at some parts. The screen was freaking huge too. It was the first time I went to an imax.
I will sit in the back that is sad that you didn't notice anything new. But you would say it's worth it to go IMAX this time?
