I liked it as expected. There was much to add in to what they started in 2007 and did so quite well. Space Bridge, The Matrix, the Pretender, having an actual combiner, and making a Dreamwave comic era character a prioirity focus in the movie were all factored in nicely. The fights seemed to come better with less shakiness, but getting lost in the mass melee was still an issue to me. Definitely lived up to it's classification of an action/adventure. I didn't care much for the sexual innuendos with more Transformers after the Nokiabot/Bumblebee urinating bits from the first flick featuring the crazed groin weapon appliance bots and the Devastator scrotum bit. I thought modulation of the humor was a must, but I didn't mind Sam's mom going drug crazy on campus as it made use of a human scene that otherwise might've dragged the film down. Felt kind of insulting to see Bonecrusher, Blackout back without an explanation. Audience was kind of nerdy in my honest opinion popping for the Harry Potter kid in the twilight flick and the Harry Potter movie spot. I resisted asking aloud if they had books to be reading instead. Sorry, that's my honest 2 cents on that. In all, movie was much more enjoyable than the first and still the certifiable movie of the year in my book. Still plan many more viewings of this one and of Ice Age 3 in the near future. I'm all tired out now from driving 3 towns over to get my mother in law for this and driving her back, but she was very happy to come along, definitely worth the effort.

Well I for one think that one surpassed the original in just about every way. Not nearly as huge of plot holes, at least with only one viewing I can't think of too many. Lot's better bot shots, less shaky cam, and when you consider this is supposed to be a popcorn film, it succeeds admirably. I wasn't too keen on the twins, but now I must have their toys cuz they are awesome comic relief. Glad I read the book before viewing tho, cuz it made enjoying the movie quite easy, no problem with any plot holes, since the book gave much better details and answered some questions.

I really liked that every robot character except for the most minor of extras had some English dialogue. It got us to know what the robots were thinking, much better than Frenzy's crazy-frog stuff from the first film.

The Doctor character was clever with his little German accent.

Megatron and Starscream had some real conversations... and Megatron had lines that lived up to his character (aside from the sucking up to Fallen part)

Loved the fight scene in the woods.

Intrigued by the concept of the "seekers." Jetfire and his old-school buddies. I'd really like to see that model-t transformer in action!

Alice the pretender was a little too weird for me... but it worked well enough.

Absolutely hated Skids and Mudflap... I'm sorry, but I find their characters patently offensive and they didn't contribute anything to the plot.

I noticed Wheelie's absurd little mustache.

I was irked by how The Fallen was just chillin' out in the Nemesis... on Mars... With Starscream... With like a shipload of decepticon protoforms. And there was no mention of any of those things during the first film at all. I wondered how the heck the writers reconciled that plot point to themselves.

I noticed that there seemed to be multiples of every constructicon... even demolishor and especially that green dump truck.
And I noticed that "Blackout" is now what all decepticon drones look like, as there are several helicopter-decepticons and a whole army of not-Earth-formatted "Blackouts."

I had no idea what to think about how Soundwave (with his non-vocoded voice) and Ravage unleashed that weird... paper-thin cyclops robo-lizard made out of nanites?!?! the one that stole the allspark shard... What was up with that guy?

Disappointed about how little of Jolt there was... and how little of Arcee there was. And how little the Fallen's badass-ness was portrayed.

I liked how many of the human scenes also had robots in them.

Confused to heck about what was supposed to happen to Jetfire... he seemingly ripped out his own spark core... but it didn't extinguish or anything... So did he actually die?

Ultimately most dissapointed by lack of follow-up at the end. No real explanation of what we just saw (like the secretary of defense's summation at the end of tf1) and no hints as to what happened to the robots in the aftermath.

I mean, there was no "Starscream going to space" scene, no dropping of the fallen's body into a vat of Acid... what exactly is supposed to happen after we end up with forty dead Decepticons in the middle of Egypt... the great pyramid destroyed and Megatron and Starscream still running amok? I would have enjoyed something like at the end of The Dark Knight... some hypothesis about the future.

All in all, as with the first film RoTF was a very muddled experience, and the more one thinks about what actually happened, the more it falls to pieces... However, what there was in this film seemed much more focused and true to what Transformers are (which is characters, mythos, a bit of melodrama) and managed to also become more fun in general.

I liked the tone of this film... the color, the pacing, the action sequences which had real character interaction, the stronger focus on the robot characters, the heartfelt attempt to give the transformers race a real backstory (as contrived as it was).

The global scope, the silliness but also the sincerity of the plot (a giant-robot-space-mummy came to blow up our sun! absurd? yes... And yet we believed it and FELT it!); The fact that we could get into the characters more; their lines had meaning and informed our feelings about the characters.

    I liked:
    Optimus' lines with Obama's liaison.
    Optimus and Megatron's lines together
    Megatron and Starscream's lines together
and one-off lines, like when Scalpel said, "Need parts... Kill the little one!"
All this taking place in clear English succeeded in bringing the soul of Transformers to light a lot better than "gir-argh-ack-*screechynoise*-dialtone-growl! grr Megatron grr" "Cybertronian" gibberish from the first film.

So... Despite my complaints, I liked it a lot!
Leaps and bounds better over the first film!

Ok saw it tonight at midnight went in knowing alot of the stuff that would happened cuz I spoiled myself and I actually think it made me enjoy the movie more than if I didnt cuz all the bad parts I expected and moved on from and the great parts I really dug deep into so heres my thoughts!

    Good:

Optimus Prime was freaking epic this whole movie His entrance was hugely epic, His 3 on 1 handicapped death match was epic, his death was epic, and his lines were epic he kicked tons of tail in this movie and he was out of it for like an hour.

The Sideswipe entrance was freaking sweet he looked awesome and his lin eat the end made it better wish he was in it more.

I liked the open dialog by both factions although maybe some of it was mismanaged atleast they had alot more including the decepticons.

I thought designs for all the new transformers looked great just most of them didnt get enough time to shine.

The Starscream and Megatron relationship was classic it felt liike the cartoon version Megatron always blaming starscream for failure and even abusing him.

The stuff that alot of people have complained about like the Twins jokes, Devastators balls, and Wheelie humping I thought it was all funny and there was loud laughter in my theatre for all of that stuff.

The human characters were mostly better from the first movie Sam was about the same still great, Mikaela was better, Simmons was way better thought he had better stuff to work with this time around, Leo I thought was good but thought he had far too much screen time that could have went to others or robots, Lennox and Epps were both good for me Tyrese had some funny lines and Duhamal played a leader alot better. Sams parents were a plus too thought they were funny and played good sad emotions too.

The Fallen looked great and I like his backstory!

The Action scenes were incredible some even breathtaking between fighting and explosins it was awesome the transformations looked good too!

    Devastator looked awesome!

    The music was good.

Bumblebee character was as good as the first film I love how they can use his character in so many ways without him talking and he laid some whoopings down this time too although he was a little more viscious than I expected same goes for Prime.

The Locations were all pretty epic too!

Scorponok Got a proper ending! (wish Barricade did! sighs!)

SOundwave and Ravage were both awesome! Soundwave would have been the best new character if he was given good time I hope he's a big part of the 3rd film.

    Bad:

Parts of the film that were suppossed to be Epic moments were poorly rushed and it cost the film some of its greatness factor. THe opening sequence while good could have been awesome the two villains died too fast although the heroes entrances were done well.

Sideways = waste of possibly good character he just got killed so easy wish he would have transformed and fought Sideswipe for a couple minutes atleast they might as well have made him Barricade atleast we would have got closure instead a pretty meaningless character.

The Constructicon stuff was pure laziness Ive followed this movie closely so I understood what was happening but the general public who dont read these sights are gonna be so confused I just feel like instead of creating duplicates they could have created some other cool decepts for that screen time.

May be alone here but hated the Fallen/Megatron relationship in the first movie they made him seem like the Maximum villain leader of the Cons with all the bad guys praising him and and the Bots fearing him then in this one apparently he's been just a number two stooge guy to the fallen I always saw megatron as out for him self kinda guy not a loyal servant. Also in the first movie Megatron owned Prime and in this one Prime pretty much Demolished Megs and megs had extra guys helping. Plus did anybody notice the difference in his voice in the first one his voice was deeper and much more sinister this time it seemed toned down and more human wasnt as villainous to me.

SOundwave and Sideswipe - Both got great intros and I was thinking these characters are gonna be so awesome then they pretty much got left out of most of the movie. Would have loved a Soundwave/Megatron scene. Dont understand why Sideswipe got no time looked like great addition.

No Closure Barricade! One of the things I was hoping for and I think alot of fans were. I dont understand why Bonecrusher and Blackout somehow get brought back or atleast there alts were reused (who knows no explanation) and Scorponok gets an ending but not Barricade its just frustrating.

Devastator and Fallen are built up to be Awesome only to get crappy short deaths!

I thought the Jetfire/Prime combo scene was Gonna be one to remember but it was rushed and just really wasnt that good for what it should have been.

Jolt = gift wrapped thank you to GM for letting bay used there cars this guy did absolutley nothing u can barely see him in the two scenes hes in.

Arcee = missed oppurtunity! thought there bot modes looked cool and they had some good visual stuff but were under used and prob killed off screen.

Would have liked to seen the Bots work better as a team, they kept splitting up and most of them only seen together once or twice. I didnt understand why with this epic search to save the world goin on only bumblee and the twins were sent while the rest of the gang stayed at the hideout.

The Autobots characterizations were kind of sucky too. I mean the decepticons are destroying everything and most of the team decide to listen to the humans and stay in storage why arent they out there doin stuff. and why were they so viscious in the first one they seemed to just be defensive even when Megatron got killed Prime was like sry brother u gave me no choice in this one Prime was ripping heads off and shot Demolishor in the head while he was helpless BB was rippin limbs off left and right and spines too just seemed a lil too much they could hae just stabbed once or shot and killed somebody.

The Military got way to much time in this movie it was like everytime there was a military scene we had to watch the plane get filled with gas then take off and get multiples cut backs to the different planes flying around and tanks and all kinds of equipment which ended up being backdrop for the battles. And I guess we shouldnt fear an Invasion cuz are military looks pretty unstoppable is this movie they prob killed more cons than the Bots did just like the first one it just seems like a reach.

I hated that there were no explanations as to what was going on in this movie. why the fallen waited 2 yrs to exact his revenge and revive Megatron. why r there multiple constructicons? Why have the Cons that landed had recycled alt modes while the other half were protoforms stuff like that!

The last thing was that the movie didnt take time to conclde some things like when Prime dies we dont get to see most of them react to it and at the end nothing happens the battle ends and all the people hug but there not even a shot of the Bots outside Prime what happened to Arcee did she live or die one of them got shot bad but who knows what happened theres just no real closure for the Bot team the battle was one and they dissappeared. And the end was very poor and took alot away from the movie in my book Prime gets brought back and all of a sudden he just owns everybody (even tho the jetfire parts r falling off of him the whole time) he beats Megatron and Fallen simultaneously and easy it was so anti-climatic it was like that was it that was all the fallen had how did he deafeat 6 primes before they must have really sucked. and to make matters worse its like they looked at the clock and just decided to cut the movie battle ends and next thing u know 5 seconds later its Prime with a closing speech. BTW I thought the speech from the first movie was great this one sucked to me felt really forced and just not memorable.

Overall though this Movie was still awesome a great ride with alot of ups and downs and exciting moments and maybe it will be better seeing it earlier in the day. There are some clear mistakes and it doesnt seems like alot is fixed from the first as far as the mistakes but it is bigger and more explosive than the first but I left the theatre feeling like it left me wanting and wandering how great it could have been with a few things tweeked and better handled. It does move serve to further the Franschise and maybe we will have to wait and see the completed work to appreciate everything. Im gonna see it prob two more time this week cant wait its still alot of fun not as great as I had hoped but definately worth watching!

PS: Thing I found funny was how suppossedly the Twins and Wheelie were brought in for kids and they said more curse words and sexual stuff than the other bots combined lol

I give it a half-a-star short of five, only because I thought the story wasn't as good as the first. Though it was very good.

Also, for the fact that Transformers are not robots, they are alien lifeforms, this movie illustrates beautifully. Lots of visible fluid (that isn't oil or fuel), saliva-like spit, clear look at the aging process from Cybertronian 'infants' to middle teen-like stages, mature, and then aging, senile, and falling apart. They really followed up on the mythology hinted at in the comics and mentioned briefly in the first film (inspecting Scorponok's tail).

    My favorite scenes:

Shanghai battle, Megs vs. Optimus, Megs vs. Starscream (awesome G1 banter), the 'pretender' chick (vicious!), and any scene with Sam's mom in it (She rocks, I love her).

I only had two big nitpicks for the movie:

    1) Devastator and the Constructicons fighting in the same big action scene. Anyone not 'in the know' might not even notice, but 'twas quite obvious.

    2) Some of the dramatic slow-mo shots in the last action scene could have been cut down, they didn't seem to fit. Maybe if this were Platoon or some big real-world war movie, but they just slowed down the action unnecessarily at times.

Otherwise, this was a helluva fun movie. I loved it. :)

    I was deeply disappointed.

The potential was there, but they did nothing with it. The movie had good PARTS, but as a whole, it was terribly disjointed.

I'm still glad I saw it, and saw it in a theatre.

I really hope they get a new director for the 3rd installment.

Just got back myself from watching just a little while ago. It was good but too many mixed feelings about the movie as a whole. The IMAX version was good, but was there an actual ending after credits?!

    Eh, the movie is okay.
    Some pretty cool bits.
I like the place I saw it, I saw it in the same building they found Jetfire at :D

Enjoyed it for what it was. I think the thing I enjoyed the most about it when I think about it a couple hours after watching it was that even though the plot was yes silly and very simple and well had wholes it really felt like a G1 plot. The whole movie (besides Alice which was kinda blah for me) really had this grand over the top G1 plot. Destroying our sun with a giant machine for energon....LOVE IT! Was it exectued perfectly..hell no but if my memory serves me, a lot of the cartoons didnt execute their silly stories with perfection either. It is after all a Transformers movie and I want over the top...it would just feel wierd if took itself too serisouly!

Saw it earlier today. And overall I liked it, the action, the transformers themselves, the humans, the music, the cgi. All of it impressed me, so I won't harp on about it as I'll be echoing what a lof of people have already said.

Having said that, I gotta say that Mudflap and Skid were utter rubbish. They were insulting and didn't cause any amusement in my cinema. Not only did they not contribute to the plot (in my opinion) but they stole Bumblebee screen time. And what was with the lack of attention given to Arcee and Sideswipe. It was very annoying, and ultimately the Twins really hurt how much I enjoyed the film. I didn't like their voices, appearence or dialogue. Jolt was only in a few sequences, wtf was up with that?? Ironhide and Ratchet also hardly spoke. It was just disappointing. This time, imo, it felt too weighed down by the Decepticons (but I still loved it!!)

And the only other thing I didn't like, was no closure for Barricade?! It was horrible considering we saw Bonecrusher, Scorponok and Blackout. Yet no Barricade? Instead we get Sideways and he is knocked off in the opening? I was severely disappointed with that too.

You aren't alone, I also disliked the relationship between Megatron and the Fallen. Especially all of this "Master" and "My apprentice" bs. It just annoyed me slightly, I just never really saw Megatron as that kind of character. But I suppose if it is beneficial to him in the long run then he'd go along with it. Just sucked a little I suppose.

But for the most part, I enjoyed it. Especially all the Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Ravage stuff. Made me so happy. All of the epic Optimus moments made me smile too.

    Spoilers

Seen revenge of the fallen on the 19th(UK) only some of the new robots are in the film and only for seconds the cgi is based on prime and megaton fighting all the way though a lot better CGI!
The story is very odd and uses the matrix as a key. nothing like the original G1 and crazier then the first film.

The action is over in seconds especially the end , its a cross between star wars and 10,000 BC in parts. ( best part of the film the woods scene wow!!!!!)

Devastator is cool but don't do much in the film and how can the constructions fight and devastator be fighting at the same time ? its like two sets of them ?
plus all the dead robots except jazz are back in parts ?

7/10 worth a watch as prime kicks ass, but as for story line and fast CGI time in parts it makes it a bit rubbish.
the end its over in about 90 seconds after the 2 hour build up! :(

(about same as the first good CGI but a bit fast and the end is over to quick!!!!!!!!)

And no hidden end part just ends ............

:p  Hell, if they can wait about four years, I'll do it! I'm going to film school, and would absolutely freaking love to do a Transformers film in my future.

RoTF was fun and exciting... a "badass thrill ride."
But it wasn't a very good film in and of itself. NONE of the Transformers flicks are. RoTF was better than the first, but still, jeez. Just because it's a franchise film that lives off of its fanbase doesn't mean it doesn't need to be thoughtful.

Look at The Dark Night. On one hand we have a simple comic book superhero movie, summer blockbuster that everyone who likes Batman will see. On the other hand, Christopher Nolan took the time and made the effort to make a self-sufficient piece of artwork.

Michael Bay = "Awesome" = :bay : = "Michael Bay presents: BaySplosions"

but Michael Bay does not = Great film. He says so himself.

He makes car commercials and recruitment ads, not art.

I saw ROTF tonght just barely got home infact, and TBH I didn't mind the story or the movie itself.

What I did in fact mind is that Welker obviously gave soundwave the voice given to him from the G1 series more than likely thinking Bay was going to have it Synthesized. (which he didn't)

Soundwave's role was just poorly handled IMO

Bravo Bay for screwing up something so simplistic and cheap to do.

DEVASTATOR although awesome to see moving around with his trillions of parts was the most pointless in the movie aside from Wheelie. who's primary purpose was to Jizz over megan fox to act out Bay's own sadistic fantasies(the hentai fans must be proud)

The Twins were extremely annoying just as I thought they'd be, and my god the egypt scene just kept dragging and dragging I thought it would never end.

Just because you use tons of explosions bay, doesn't mean the movie is going to be able to get it's story accross.

And ya gotta love a guy who's so sexist, that he simply kills the Arcee bots like they were nothing, and treating Jolt like he was nothing but an extension cord for OPTIMUS PRIME.

and what really really made me angry the most was that Bay completely left out the entire ending, one of the most important parts of the story.

MEGATRON get's the MATRIX and brings all the hatchlings alive and raises his giant army aboard the wreckage of the NEMESIS.

    where's that footage BAY?

did anybody else notice the 40 plus MEGATRON clones stomping around killing stuff lol

Just saw the movie twice, it was pretty badass! There was some stuff i didn't like, but overall the good outweighed the bad. Fight scenes were awesome, even if some Cons (Sideways, Devastator, Ravage) got killed way too easily.

Soundwave was awesome! I was initally disappointed they didn't vocode his voice but it still sounded pretty great, worked for the character. The only thing i was disappointed with, apart from no robot mode, was the fact that he didn't say his two most famous lines:

    "Ravage, eject!"

    "As you command Megatron"

They could quite easily have put these in i thought.

There was just a few things that confused me/seemed rushed. I live in Australia so the version of the movie shown here may be different to other country's, so if that could be the reason let me know.

    - Why were there so many Constructicons? There were at least 2 Longhauls, 2 Mixmasters and, i think, 2 Rampages (although one was red and another was yellow)

    - Where was the explanation for Grindor/Blackout? Surely it wouldn't take that long to explain where he came from? They could have shown him being revived along with Megatron underwater, or explained his existance if he was supposed to be a new bot.

    - Was it just me or was Alice a waste of time? She was a cool character and i liked the whole Pretender thing, but apart from that she didn't really need to be in the film. I get that she was trying to get the info from Sam, but her main mission seemed to be to break up Sam and Mikeala.

    - What the hell happened to Wheelie? He just disappeared after they found the Tomb of the Primes? A case of Barricade syndrome maybe?

    - The whole Fallen and Starscream waiting on the Nemesis thing confused me as well. What have they been doing for 2 years, apart from giving SS badass tattoos? While were on the subject, how did Megatron know they were there? There was no explanation, he just got revived and then left Earth. Even a 1 line explanation would have helped here.

I think i've written enough now. As i said, i loved the movie but there were some things that slightly annoyed me (Dev with balls, the Twins, Wheelie humping legs). Just wanted to give my opinion, cheers.

He couldn't even keep track of his own story. I think I actually prefer the first movie.

The thing that I hated most about the movie, is they didn't even ATTEMPT, to explain why there were multiples of the same guys walking around. Hell, Bonecrusher apparently has a twin, and so does Blackout. I can only imagine what the non-TF fans watching thought.

None of the Autobots or Cons had personalities, save for Prime, the twins, Wheelie, Jetfire, Megs, Starscream and the Fallen.

Jolt was the biggest joke of all, only showing up at the end to be a glorified magnet.

The twins, inexplicably DISAPPEAR after doing their shenanigans on top of Devastator. Wheelie isn't seen after the checkpoint with the Oompa Loompa. It just... it seems like there was at least a half hour of movie missing.

Wheelie clearly made the movie. Why is his toy a deluxe?

Wow that was such an amazing movie! *SPOILERS AHEAD*

I'll write more later but I JUST got back from seeing it and im just stunned from awesomeness.

I was confused about the so many constructicons but i'm just assuming there's more than one of each.

The main thing I thoroughly enjoyed from this movie is Prime! He was more bad ass than any other character in my opinion. The best battle in my opinion was the Optimus fighting the 3 decepticons at once with dual blades. wtf that was crazy, and he totally owned them for the most part. My only complaint is that the final battle with Optimus and fallen shoulda been longer. I barely saw that much but I'm just assuming that he kicked so much butt that the Fallen was easy. Megatron got what he deserved for beating down on Prime twice, too bad Prime didn't finish him off.

And where's the extra footage at the end credits! everyone in the theatre groaned when nothing showed up on our giant imax screen :(
