Didn't like that Megatron was subserviant to the Fallen. Kind of goes against who Megatron is. Devastator seemed like the big slow type instead of agile like the other guys. Could have done more with him, and I would have liked it if he stood upright, but I understand the money it must cost to animate him. Liked that they captured the Megatron/Starscream relationship down good. Bay showed me he learned from the mistakes of the past. He doesn't kill Prime, he is lost in battle only to return at the end. The beginning battle was amazing. Right off the bat the special effects were raised to a whole new level.
We got what we wanted. More effing robots, and Prime kicking some serious a$$ this time. Loved it, and will probably see it again once the crowds die a bit. The theatre I was at showed it on 15 of their 16 screens, and they were going to show it again at 4:00 am because their were people complaining they wanted to see it tonight.

Just got back. Had a late start due to them taking 10 minutes to start the projector?!?

I look at this movie like a good book. When a book is going good, you do not want to put it down, like certain scenes in the movie. When the book is slow or tedious, you plow through it because you know some of it is important to the story, like certain other scenes in the movie. I got goosebumps at certain scenes and others I cringed. I could have done without Simmons changing pants like that (What the hell did they pay Tuturro to do that?!?), but the Twins were not as bad as some of the reviews were making them out to be. They were like those kids I see in the malls trying to be cool/rap gangsta wannabes.

There is a pretty fluid plot, but I read the book too. I could have used more character development, and personally, Dr. Claw as Soundwave was bad, what happened to voice modulation?

Was it the best it could have been, IMHO, no. Was it good and would I watch it again, YES! I did not go in expecting Shakespeare, like some of the "Professional Critics" seem to have expected from a Michael Bay film, so I was not disappointed with the end result.

yay, just got back from it.

    My thoughts-

first, I'll start with the negatives. Sideways, is killed within seconds of showing up, and you never get a good look at his robot mode. the movie REALLY drags for a while about 2/3 of the way in. like, painfully boring, even though important things are happening. devastator has wrecking ball testicles. despite nothing that makes him up having a wrecking ball, much less two of them. the climactic battle is over in a flash, and a good portion of it is blocked by scenery. The main villain in the movie is dispatched without ever really seeming like a valid threat. Jolt. one of the best new transformer designs, and you never get to see him do ANYTHING until the very end, when he shows that he exists only to move a few certain objects with his whips. and he's not alone. several transformers simply drop out of the movie for long periods of time without any explanation at all. These are things that REALLY ****** me off, and if you focus on them, you will utterly HATE this movie. and a very minor nitpick: while they got Frank Welker to return as soundwave and do the proper voice, they didnt run it through a vocoder like in G1, so it actually ends up sounding nothing like soundwave.

    Now onto the positives.

TONS of robot screen time. the beginning is composed of an amazing autobot/military operation withexcellently coreographed action sequences, and lots of great transformations. The autobots interact with humans in a way that really makes them come to life. Every fight sequence is jaw-dropping, and hooray, not obscured by shakey cameras. Optimus' 1 vs. 3 battle with the decepticons is ****ing AWESOME. The transformers talk. a lot. which is much better than the first movie. They spend most of their time in robot mode, which is very welcome. Megatron and Starscream get a lot of screen time all their own, without any fighting going on. so it's just the two of them interacting, and megatron occasionally attacking starscream like we all expect him to. there's more positive things, but I dont want to spoil too much.

and Jetfire is wonderful. He really, really is.

overall, the movie is a mixed bag. it has a lot of high points, and just as many low points. it has rather bad pacing, but thankfully focuses on the transformers far more than the humans, with Optimus, Starscream, Megatron, Skids, Mudflap, and Bumblebee being the real stars. it expands the transformers mythos more than I could have ever expected a hollywood movie to do, and this time it REALLY feels like transformers.

a warning, this movie is absolutely vulgar at times. more sexual innuendo than you could ever imagine being in a TF movie, and more swearing than the PG-13 rating would indicate. be cautious if taking little kids.

some fans will love it, some will hate it. and the casual movie-goers? I cant see them liking it. I really can't. This is a movie that is 98% about the transformers, without all the human parts that made the first movie accessible to everyone else.

I loved it. I really did. I just cant believe how much it REALLY felt like transformers. it's stupid to repeat so much, but really, thats what sold this movie to me. it was made for us. well, thats how I feel anyways. I think the audience agreed. there was a LOT of cheering through the whole thing.

One thing made my viewing particularly odd. for nearly a full half hour before the movie started, 5 girls stood near the stairs, and danced. like, how you'd see girls dance in a hip-hop video. there was no music. they just... danced. I shouted "thats not how you dance for transformers", and was ignored. which angered me. because thats REALLY not how you dance for transformers.

First, I grew up with the G1 cartoon, but I am not a slave to the material.

I saw the movie at Midnight and I enjoyed it. Nuff said.

EDIT: Ooooh yeah. (Minor Spoilers) When Sam dropped that fragment, was one of those "mini-cons" Gnaw? Looked like it.

overall i have to give it an "ehh" some good, some bad but i can easily say i enjoyed the first one more. there was no love for any of the characters, it's sad to say the comic relief robots(skids, mudflap, wheelie and to a lesser extent jetfire) had the most screen time which is just plain wrong. Not that i didn't like them but they had more lines than even prime. also was extremely disappointed with the ending, the fight was over and it just happened. no explanations, no idea what happened to anyone after the final battle, nothing. but we do get to see sam go back to class. woo hoo!

I liked megatron serving the fallen, it gave a sense of somthing far more powerful, and I loved that scene when Megatron, Starscream, and The Fallen where on Cybertron its not often when there is 5 minuts of pure CGI robots arguing!

Just got back! Hell of a summer movie... meaning strictly entertainment, not thought provoking.

+Forsest scene= most memorable action sequence ever to be caught on screen, the IMAX for this whats out of this world.

+Didnt mind the fack the constructicons were in two places at the same time. It seems that the CC's werent even devastator, didnt mind that.

+The story line without the robots was enjoyable becuase it was all about the history of the bots.

+Scenes with fallen/megs/screamer were absolutly amazing. CGI when they went to space was the best i have ever seen.

    Negatives

    -Fallen killed way too easily.
-Extemely poor character development in the rest of the autobots. I hoped to see alot of Sideswipe and especially ironhide... but no luck.
    - IN the final battle when the tanks and everything were shooting at the cons, why could they have like a dozen 5 second shots of the autobots firing back??????????????

First time on this forum and just saw the movie, so here goes...

    The Cons:
    - Way too much middle school humor. Few sex jokes are okay, but every 10th line of dialogue, c'mon
    - Sam's mom is on CRACK, not on WEED
    - John Turturro is a great actor, but we did not need a shot of his ass in a thong or something, why couldn't we have such a shot of Megan or the blonde? WTF
    - Did I spot just one blurry shot of Jolt in robot form?? He looked cool though.. we'll just have to wait for the third movie to see more
    - I wanted to see more of Sideswipe, he was badass. Damn he's good:)
    - Soundwave was a sitting duck in space, and his face could've been more in tune with the original, but then again, Prime is the only Transformer remotely resembling the G1 design
    - Too many slow-mo "dramatic" moments, this movie is about ass-kicking period, don't gimme that psudo-emotional bullcrap
    - The Twins got a little bit annoying, which too much screentime in my opinion
    - Jetfire got owned by that little Scorpion thing. Bay's "Scorponok"
    - Devastator, or Devasta-pussy! Weak.
    - Did the Fallen sound like Yoda for just a second?

    The Pros:
    - Is that Prime, or Wolverine?! He was berserk with his blades, and laid out a path of robotic carnage! In the forest scene, he yelled something like "I'll take on all of you!!!" BADASS to the MAX! He smashed Megatron with a tree! Even death could not stop Prime from coming back and kicking ass. That's why he is my favorite character in the movie.
    - Megatron and Starscream got a lot of screentime, and the characters were really developed
    - At the end of the day, this movie is about robot on robot carnage, and that is exactly what I wanted out of this movie, so I'm satisfied. Nothing deep here, just ass kicking. I'll probably end up seeing it a couple more times.

P.S. Sideways got owned so fast cuz his name is Sideways! And his robot design sucked ass. Sideswipe's owning of him sort of reminded me of Cervantes from Soul Calibur

Wow all I have to say is wow. Prime's fight scenes are absolutely amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed it even after the technical difficulties my theater had with starting the movie up. The Megs Screamer interaction was so much better than I thought it would be. Can't wait to see it again. Time to go to bed, to tired to write anymore.

I quite liked it. I wasn't expecting Bay to give us a brilliantly written and clever drama. I was expecting explosions. I got exactly what I expected.

But I will agree that some of the TFs got so little screen time that it was impossible to even recognize some of them. That said, I can't complain.

Soundwave was incredible. But he just stayed in space for the whole movie, right?

I just got back from seeing the movie. It's 3:44AM EST, and I'm really tired. So I'm going to make this brief but will elaborate later.

I really liked this movie. And some of you are aware that I'm a huge nay-sayer of the first movie. I liked this movie. It was good! It wasn't perfect, but it was good.

ok, just got back myself. first off, the action was good. i loved optimus and bumblebee turned out alot better than expected. now on to the rest (yeah, its gonna get bad).....the twins were awfull! devastator, a large let down and waste. i thought it was said that we were getting less comedy and more darkness to this film....where was it?! oh the fallen and his plan for earth? rampant decepticons? it started with to much comedy IMO and kinda went from there. all i could keep remembering was a quote someone said about the last movie (which i didn't agree with) "michael bay raped my childhood." yes its bayverse, yes its not G1 and no i'm not expecting that, but it makes the transformers into more of a comic act then a series about "a alien robot civil war." i'm actually worried about the third one now. for everyone who loved, i'm glad. you'll be the ones who insure that i get more figures from hasbro. personally, i didn't though and left feeling disappointed. maybe i hyped it too much to myself, maybe i read into too much from the critics. thats my opinion though.

i just got back from it as well. no ships all protoforms. tons of generic decepticons and multiples of several constructicons. sideswipe complete badass! poor jolt only seen twice still looked cool though. megs and screamer were AWESOME together. so G1 that it was perfect. devestator was pretty useless though, and the "decepticles" were ridiculous. all in all better than the first film thought. favorite moment was right after Jetfire gave himself as parts to prime and prime to stood up and said "lets roll" then flew off and started beating MAJOR ass!
