So it seems that the rumors about Leonard Nimoy where a fake. Damn. I know that he would love to be part of this movie.

"Fake"? "Rumors"? Bay and Orci officially stated that Nimoy was being considered for the role; that just didn't turn out to be the case. We didn't fall for something made-up with no basis in reality or anything.

Maybe I'll watch the credits - and damn!
No vocoder for Frank Welker! Not sure how it'll sound as a result!

I've seen the movie a couple of times now, and I thought I'd chime in with a couple of points based on stuff raised in this thread. WARNING: I'm not going to spoiler tag this post as it should be pretty much considered all SPOILER.

    1) Welker's voice isn't vocodered and really doesn't need to be. Honestly, the voice really suits the movie aesthetic where the G1 voice would have sounded strange and out of place. The "Excellent Ravage!" youtube clip earlier in this thread is exactly how movie Soundwave sounds actually.

    2) Rampage and Demolisher both have lines ("Sam Whitwicky" / "This is not your planet to rule; the Fallen will rise again") and although Demolisher is put down by Prime early on, he does make up part of Devastator later on. There does appear to be several teams of Constructicons throughout the movie though, as Long Haul in particular is prominent in the search for Sam and the final battle, despite Devastator fighting Skidz/Mudflap and scaling the pyramid at the same time.

    3) Both the red/purple and Pink Arcee bikes are shot/killed in the final battle, it is the blue one, Chromia that is unscathed.

    4) Arcee's voice was practically identical to her G1 incarnation to me, even though she only had a couple of lines.

    5) The Fallen/Megatron/Starscream dynamic is very well done, and the Fallen/Megatron relationship in particular is very reminiscent of the Emperor/Vader, even if the movie overall fails to capture the same sort of atmosphere as Empire Strikes Back.

    6) There is a lot of robot dialogue, particularly from Prime, Skidz, Mudflap, the Fallen, Megatron and Starscream. Whilst Charlie Adler reprises the latter's role, Starscream's voice does sound different to me from the first movie.

    7) You get several looks at Sideswipe, and he has a few lines. You do get clear looks at Jolt too, but he has no lines. He is much nicer looking than the deluxe toy suggests.

    8) The Fallen is residing on the Nemesis to begin with, which is crashed on a planet adjacent to Saturn (it's never stated which though). I got a very Matrix-esque vibe from these scenes. Small Protoform's that Starscream calls "hatchlings" are being pumped out, but are dying due to the lack of Energon. I thought this was a nice touch, and obviously provides Megatron with a nice army to utilise if a source of Energon can be found for the third movie.

    9) The was something a lot more organic about the bots this time round. Several of them are seen to breathe (you see their breath when they speak in the cold) and there is a lot more fluid involved - Starscream spits a couple of times, prime leaks fluid when his faceplate is smashed, as does Megatron when he loses half of his face.

I'm not going to deny that there are problems, and some of the humour might not be to everyone's tastes (I really enjoyed it personally) but it turned out better than I expected, and it is better than the first effort, if not quite there yet as the TF movie everyone wants.

Is there any sign/mention of Bumblebee and Arcee being in love? or Chromia and Ironhide? or (I know its a long shot!) Moonracer and Ratchet?

    Hell no.
The Arcee bots don't even interact with any other Autobots.

You didn't HTR out the spoiler...

Just FYI to the threadauthor, although you HTRed the spoiler at the bottom of the cast list, you still left it blank when you listed the cast. Maybe you should get rid of that.

Then again, maybe it's better that the fans know that before they go see the movie, so they're not incredibly dissapointed.

Frank Welker also voices Devastator and Reedman in the movie.

Rampage does grunt out something when Sam is talking to him but you can't really make it out.

There's three people listed as "Prime" which is the flashback primes but I don't remember the names.

I enjoyed it more this time than on the 5th, and saw Bonecrusher in the end fight this time around which I missed the first time.

Cinema was still packed out and the jokes certainly went down well with the very mixed audience

I wonder who that is? Must be a voice over a comm channel, or something...

Well, that'll be Michael York, Kevin Michael Richardson and someone else.

I expect everyone to be paying close attention to the credits when the movie hits the US!

If I remember rightly, Robin Atkin Downes (the telepath Byron from Babylon 5) was listed as one of the Primes.

    Personally,
I thought Soundwave's voice fit him perfectly. A rasping whisper, devoid of any kind of emotion. And to be fair, I was never that much of a fan of his western voice, I've always preferred his Japanese voice.

And I did wonder about Jetfire; it didn't sound much like Tuturro to me. Well, it's good to see the Saracen from 'Robin of Sherwood' getting some recognition, finally. ;)

Here is something funny. Over at CHUD.com Bay does a interview where he gives credit for the characterization of the twins to Tom Kenny. He said:

So is he implying that Tom Kenny was chosen as Skids voice actor because how well he could improv? If that was the case why have a script for the movie at all? If Kurtzman and Orci gave ever Autobot specific dialogue which then had to be sacrificed due to actor improv why not give more screen time to the other Autobot's based on how well their voice actors did, why should Skids (Tom Kenny) get special treatment?

The article also goes on to say that Alex Kurtzman gives credit for the twins creation to Bay and he "followed his lead on those characters because he understood them best". Maybe that is why most of the Tom Kenny dialogue was completed first because Bay was more concerned with the Twins development opposed to any other Transformer.

Any youtube clips of his Japanese voice?

Don't know if anyone else is interested but me, But I knew I'd seen the guy who does Sideswipe's voice's name before. He's the voice of Ethan in the game Condemned 2.

No wonder this movie will suck despite its stelllar voice cast and special effects. You should've learned from George Lucas, Mr. Bay.

    full voice cast for ROTF

I see the voice cast for ROTF and i think is great Frank Welker make the voice of Soundwave, even without the vocoder.I don`t know how the western voice sounds like, but i think it will be cool, better than his japanese voice(TFHeadmasters, see it on YouTube).
