Reading his stories and the way he writes, I often wonder if his stories are too religious. The guy is obsessed with religion. What role does religion have to do with robots? Talk about bringing in a totally unrelated concept. We have enough religious fanaticism in our own world without Furman adding to it. Dreamwave also did it with Sunstorm. What a horrible way of approaching technologically advanced robots. The Fallen did it too with his riduculous take of "the 4 horsemen". Then you had Thunderwing as some Armageddon bringer himself.

What is up with this kinda writing. The first series of DW and IDW started off so well with clear, simple plots. Then they got all religious. We need some new writers that don't use religion/magic in the TF world. Isn't large, giant transforming robots enough as it is?

EDIT: This is not about religion but about the use of religion in the comics.

Transformers are sentient robots that act like people and have thier own civilisation, why woulden't they have religion and stuff?

It's just symbolism and an easy way to deal with strict Good vs Evil genre concepts like this. No idea if he's religious, but I don't think it's relevant to what you're discussing either. Lots of writers of all walks use stories with biblical style archetypes to fuel the conflicts in them, it's a pretty generic tool.

You should just stop reading as it'll make your life much easier. Just watch the cartoon, seems that is all you're looking for in your Transformers anyways. Mindless action without any real depth or thought behind it.

How could anyone definitely answer that?

Also, the IDW comics got religious?

Reading your comment again, Your taking these comics way too seriously if your connecting The Fallen and Thunderwing to religion.

I kinda see The Fallen, but Thunderwing was plain driven mad by Pretender technology...unless he's talking Marvel Thunderwing who was driven mad by the Dark Matrix.

Seeing how The Fallen is basically Judas (or a Judas-like character) and the whole horsemen thing really do depict religious tones, I think it's all out of proportion, though. Besides, if the stories truly emulated religion and religious themes, then they'd have been fighting each other for no real reason this whole time.

    Wait a minute...

Not you too. Ok, before you get even more antsy, I am not attacking you. I am criticizing the material. Ok. I even said how I am glad that you like it. Please don't start with the hyperboles like others on this site do. This is how it starts. You with the initial slap in the face. Mindless is all I want right? So sad...

In the best interests of both of us, I kindly ask you to start ignoring me if you are not going to be able to be tolerant of my opinions.

Alternately, you could always counter his evaluation of your first post with a well constructed argument instead of crying judgement and opression.

No, it was an honest suggest. You obviously don't like 90% of the comics, so why read them? I wasn't trying to make a dig at you, and sorry if you took like that. However, I do think people take offense with your style of criticism (and extension posting in general as seen in the movie forum). You're way too quick with words like ridiculous, stupid, and such for elements that aren't to your liking. When you say things like "We have enough religious fanaticism in our own world without Furman adding to it," to reinforce your points, it really is bothersome.

No discussion of religion at all. not it's symbolism in comics, not how it relates to Transformers. Nothing. No religious discussion means just that. The members of this forum have shown time and again that they simply can not handle a discussion like this without resorting to flames, baiting and insults.

    Thanks.
