ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You're a bigger star now than when you did the first Transformers. Did they beef up your role in the sequel?
MEGAN FOX: The humans are still secondary to the robots because it's a movie about robots. I feel like the part is adequate. I feel like we do something that's watchable on our end and then ILM makes it phenomenal.

You don't sound convinced that this is the greatest movie on earth.
It's not trying to be the greatest movie on earth. It's going to be the best action movie of the summer. Hands down, it will win that. But it's not trying to be a Golden Globe-nominated film. It's a badass popcorn summer movie.

You up for a third Transformers?
Sure. I mean, I can't s--- on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don't want to blow smoke up people's ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, ''All right, I know that when he calls Action! I'm either going to be running or screaming, or both.''

Are you happy with the kinds of roles you're getting offered now?

I get offered some outrageous s---, like Bikini Summer Camp Island, or whatever.

Do you think you're a good actress?
I think I could be. If I really buckle down, I think one day I could be a very good actress. But so far, I haven't done anything yet.

Then why are people so obsessed with you and hiring you for movies?
I can't figure that out. I mean, Transformers made $700 million and that opened a door to introduce this ''new girl,'' and I happened to be such an outrageous personality that people wanted to start writing about me because it was deemed controversial. I think if I had been a typical Hollywood actress and I said all the right things and I had been a publicity android, it wouldn't have escalated to this level.

    Is all the attention mysterious?
Yes. I don't feel like I had to climb a ladder, so it doesn't feel like I've earned it.

When you were growing up and wanting to be an actress, you must have wanted to be famous one day, right?
Well, yeah, because that's how you measure success in Hollywood, really. But you have no idea what this life is like until you are living it. I used to sit back and think, ''Please, Britney Spears has the best life ever — she has everything she could ever want!'' But she has one of the worst lives. Her life is a living f---ing nightmare. I have panic attacks thinking about her life.

    The paparazzi follow you, too.
Well, I don't have it as bad as some people. I'm thankful that it's still at this level. It will either get better or it will get worse. And hopefully by the time it gets worse, I'll be making enough so that I can have a f---ing security team to get me in and out of places.

    That sounds depressing.
But that's what the industry is, and I got myself into it. I don't regret it because I couldn't be doing anything else.

I can appreciate her honesty and frank discussion on the matter.

I'm sure some people will get bent out of shape about this, but those are the kind of people who are just touchy about things in general.

I read this interview this morning. It's cool that she's open and honest, but she does have some maturing to do.

It's as simple as basic maths. She can't act, she doesn't even attempt to really act, and I honestly don't think she will ever be able to. It's not her fault, it just is. So you can bring out all the honesty....fair play. But the fact is, her and acting are like oil and water....THEY CAN NEVER MIX!

Haha. Man, she should respect the damn franchise....IT GAVE HER A CAREER. She can't last. She will never last. There will be another "pretty girl" and soon she will be old news. You see, looks are short-term but talent is everlasting.....

I can only be honest. She should not be in acting, she should have nothing to do with it. Porn? Sure. Modelling? Why not. Acting.....HELL NO!

Jesus christ man, did you even READ the interview? You're not spewing anything she hasn't already said herself, doesn't already know or hasn't already acknowledged.

If anyone wants to bash Megan Fox for her lacking acting ability in Transformers of all things, then you should be prepared to do the same with everyone else in the movie as well since NO ONE really flexed any acting chops worth talking about. That's what happens when you're given utter shit dialogue in CGI-reliant summer popcorn movies where plot, depth, continuity, writing & general flow all take a back seat to explosions, trite "comedy", and more explosions. Cases in point: John Turturro & Jon Voight - the only two real actors in the entire movie with any previous credibility & acclaim dumbed down to background fillers, or in the case of Turturro, just ridiculously stupid characters. Same goes for Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson and even Natalie Portman in the Star Wars prequels. If you didn't already know who they were, you'd easily mistake them for some of the worst actors alive thanks to the horrendous dialogue they were given.

Start passing the almighty internet peanut gallery judgements when you see people like Fox in something other than - of all things - a couple of Michael Bay movies. Afterall, his name alone should be more than enough to know what to (and not to) expect in terms of acting... as evidenced by the entire casts of Bad Boys, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon & The Island. And I say that as someone who has even mildly enjoyed most of his past movies. But the fact is that this guy is an action director just trying to fill space with a couple of decently sized names and pretty faces. The last thing he's concerned about is actors honing their crafts.

Patience. Once she hits 30 she's dead in the water.

Me? I'm waiting on LeBouf to go down. Someone in the industry keeps pushing him for roles, and he has yet to be engaging in any of them. That can't last forever.

To be honest, as much as you can say about Shia, the guy can act and I think he has a decent future ahead of him. Even in transformers, a good actor can still be good even with horrid dialogue. Turturro's character is a mess but you can still see that he has acting skills and can act despite how badly written his character is. Same goes for everyone else. The thing about Fox is that, she can't even begin to act. There are just some people who just can't do it. All that jive about these kinds of movies not needing actors is BS.
Example? Jurassic Park. Popcorn movie aimed at kids. Sam Neill? Cain and Abel, Doctor Zhivago. Laura Dern? Blue Velvet, Inland Empire.
The thing is that our society has gone down in quality were we get people who have nothing to do with acting, getting lead roles in movies. Film is film, whatever the genre. Only actors should be hired because this is the film industry. So please, don't give me that argument to justify Fox's existence in the movie.

Why can't she go back to modelling? What's so bad about that?

That's a pretty idiotic statement to be honest. Even Katherine Hepburn's career started poorly, and she turned out to be one of the finest actresses of all time. Hell even Angelina Jolie starred in that POS Hackers. If Megan is as honest with herself as she tries to be in these interviews, and is seriously dedicated to learning to act, she will be at least a competent actress in a few years, great if she really puts forth effort and PICKS ROLES SMARTLY.

As she said Transformers is not really the type of movie that needs you to be a method actor. I'll wait till she stars in more than big action flicks and weakly written TV shows before can judge how far she can go.

But you think Shia can act? He's perfect for Transformers, but he plays the same role the same way in every movie!! Disturbia, Eagle Eye, Indy, it's the same character. He doesn't even appear to try and change it! Not to mention the no no no no no!!! thing he loves to do. At this point, Shia and Megan have displayed the same amount of acting skills... very little.

Maybe I'm just jaded from living in Vegas or the people I've known, but honestly, if I passed her on the street she might get a passing glance from me, or she might not.

There's nothing special there that I can really see. Nothing that makes her stand out, appearance-wise.

LeBouf may be able to act, but he can't sell action roles.

Indy 4? Bah. This little geek as a competent and tough greaser?

Tuturro has the chops and is fun. Jon Voight has just an incredible career behind him, despite the occasional foray into total garbage.

You've clearly not familiar with anything Mathew McConaughey has done the past decade or so, are you?

    This. Heheh.

Is there any more to this article? I don't know about everyone else, but I was hoping for another Olivia Wilde reference.
