Alright, first thread EVER, for me......

So, Mat-Man and I are invited to his sister's wedding. This is not a problem, the actual "getting" of a gift is. You see, I've been to alot of weddings, but this one is different. It being his sister's wedding, I can't see us going for the usual towels, bedding, etc. We're going to have to get them something "personal".
This is easier said than done. So, with that in mind, I figured at least one, if not more of you could give us some ideas.

But, just so you're aware..........neither of them are TF fans. Although getting them a couple TF shirts HAD crossed my mind....

So, the floor is yours...........and any help is greatly appreciated!!!

    Get them an alt-ID.

Or towels, you can never have too many towels.

Alright, I count another vote for towels.........

Could be fun though, we could get them Hannah Montana towels and watch their eyes burn out of their heads. Would that be bad for the wedding pics?

The gift should be more "personal"... so you're asking strangers? Wouldn't people who know the couple personally be better sources of advice?
Like, I'm not trying to be obnoxious here (though it does tend to come naturally sometimes), but at least give some details about the people involved or something if you're hoping for any serious responses.

The last wedding I went to, I got them skydiving tickets. Some of the people I talked to thought that was "awesome", others muttered amongst themselves that it was "inappropriate". I figure that constitutes a resounding success, personally. So I guess find something they would be into that might be a little out of the ordinary, would be my advice. Failing that, toasters are nice.

Seriously though if they don't have a gift registry then just give them money - it's actually helpful and very personal.

    Condoms.

Other than that, surely they must be registered somewhere, right? Ask her where she's registered, go there, check their list and see what people haven't bought yet. That way magically you know what they want and you don't get what somebody else did, hopefully.

    She's a manic/depressive and he's a "reformed" slut.

The thread was just to get my imagination going. Some idea, any idea is good at this point.

As far as the money type gift, would love to, but seeing as how this is family, that would be grounds for familial violence..........Although would get us out of having to attend another "forced family fun" event.....

Oh, and the only thing they really have in common is singing at the local bar. I'm not buying one of those crappy CD's with a thousand songs on them.........I'd be forced to listen to it....... I'm trying to save my eardrums!

Don't put too much thought into it, trust me, they have sooo many other things on their minds right now. In fact, they'll be putting more effort into writing "thank you" cards for all the crap they will be getting, than enjoying all the crap.

If anything, buy them storage space to put all the crap in...like a gift certificate for Ikea or Pier 1 Imports...

No machine! Storage space is starting to be a winner.......but then, so's the vase. Although, I might just "leave" the vase at my house.........hhhmmmm

I wonder if alcohol is a good wedding present? At least I'd love it for my wedding!

Maybe you and your husband could make them a painting? Or if you can't paint, maybe you could pay for an appointment for them to get painted by a real artist?

Or maybe you could do both and get them framed to hang up next to each other, like one is professional but the other one is still beautiful because it came from family who love them! :thumb

I think that's way personal and I know I would be SOOOOO happy if I got that on my wedding day. Plus as a bonus it's not something they'll fight over if they get divorced, because they're both in it. They'll just throw it away. :lol
