They better make a kick-ass big robot. Because the individual robots don't look like anything. Am I the only one who thinks that Arcee looks like the T-1000 just before it fell into the molten pit and died?

Unfortunately, the theory that their combined form is just as non-humanoid as their individual forms carries a lot of weight. Unless the third bot miraculously came with all the parts necessary to get a cohesive, humanoid robot. So either Hasbro is lying and the third bot is NOT a repaint and will swoop in and save the day, or Hasbro is telling the truth and the gestalt will be a mess, just like the individual bots. I think they look like when the T1000 gets split in half near the end of T2. Best picture I could find:

I second this notion. I mean I know I'm not willing to buy 2 more Chromias just to see the lame 3-way combine mode where they are indeed just back to back to back in a connected triangle, but someone has to own Chromia and Arcee and maybe an extra Chromia that can save the day and show them combined

 

its interesting and all how they might or might not combine, but i think once its officially revealed it will be a huge letdown.

 

I figure the 3rd will be the money maker. we won't like this UNTIL that point. and I doubt that she'll be a leg, but who knows. these 2 come with feet add-ons' so the third might be the head add-on

soon as I saw this thread it dawned on me that those stands would make standard gestalt feet. (3rd could make a backpack?)

Here is the thing, if the combined mode of the 3 bikes was indeed dropped from the film too late for them to stop production on the first 2 bikes as toys, Hasbro may have decided to drop the unique 3rd bike in place of a Chromia repaint.

It's Speculation, but the quote from botcon is what is giving me this idea. The whole statement of a weak combined mode (back to back) sounds like typical canned corporate crap. It's not going to be in the movie, so they can pump out a repaint for the 3rd figure regardless of it being accurate. With a proper combination of the 3 figures they would have marketed the crap out of them as being able to combine because they lure you in to buy 3 figures together instead of one. (we could still get a box set later if they do it right)

I hope I am wrong in this assumption.
They might still be able to pull this one out of the fire. It seems to me that the bot modes were sacrificed for a greater combined mode. It would be a terrible shame to not get that great figure due to production cuts or whatever other reason exists.

On the other hand, this would make an excelent custom project to finish what Hasbro didn't, Sure we have a few Radicons that will be interested in trying.

If anybody has these 2 figures and can attempt a partial combination with pics it would be appreciated.

If the Hasbro quotes are true then there should be 2 different ways to combine the 2 figures, with a little photoshop we would be able to see the whole gestalt. (sombody already has both right?)

 

Arcee and Chromia combiners?

I believe that Hasbro and Bay have dropped the three bike sisters as a combiner. Michael Bay said of one combiner and that is Devastator. I know that Optimus and Jetfire go together but that combinor is not a true combiner.

Ratchet uses parts of Jetfire to rebuild the injured parts of Optimus similar to the way Megatron was rebuilt from Decepticon parts. Jetfire sacrifies himself to help Prime battle The Fallen.

So with that I think it would be to expenisve to have another combiner. Plus I think the third bike would have been shown by now if they were to combine.

 

here is something to think about! What if the original plans involved more than 3? Then at some point Bay cut it to 3. Them he removed the combination from the film. The Big gestalt could have been designed and engineered long before the CG. and instead of dropping the whole character Hasbro will release the combiner and just chalk up the missing bots to non screen characters.

 

I have a hard time believing that the film will drop the idea of combining the bikes if the bikes combined even remotely into something audience-grabbing.

The fact that it IS dropped from film suggests that the combined mode isn't anything impressive. The back-to-back-to-back answer from an earlier post sounds about right; they DO combine, but you might as well stick three Transformers together with a rubber band and get the same effect.

 

If I go along with this, I'd say the blue one is the left arm but the red one isn't the right arm. This leaves the right arm and head to Moonracer

 

I think the comic image looks very good for the proposed combined form.

Since the purple bot contributes the head it could work to just be a repaint/ retool of cromia. And by retool I mean a character specific head.

Maybe all that is needed for the 3 robots to combine is a big sack for them to jump into.
