release date and/or availability

Has anyone been able to locate a drop date for the Transformers LG Versa? Neither the in store or online Verizon reps have any information and we're down to 3 weeks before the release date.

 

I tried googling it but I couldn't find shit. Seems odd though cause the movie comes out in a few weeks. Wouldn't make since to have a phone with the release date on it if it comes out AFTER the movie comes out

Verizon site lists the Versa as sold out now. They dropped the price a bit and I'm guessing with the commercials running it became a hot ticket. The girl at the VZW store told me that after they sell all the ones with the keyboard module, they are going to start selling it without the keyboard. WTF? Why push this phone as "VERSA-tile" and then stop selling the module with it? I'm about fed up with waiting and the enV touch (aka Voyager 2) is out now and has better features, even if it is a clamshell design.

 

Per the official LG press release: "LG Mobile Phones will also unveil design renderings of a LG limited edition “Transformers” Versa phone, which will be made available only through consumer promotions as part of their overall movie tie-in campaign."

Doesn't look like this will be widely available to the public just to buy. I'm fairly disappointed.

 

I really wanna get this phone. Hope it drops soon and hope its not just for certain people and is available to all or that would suck.

 

checked with the Verizon guy again today and no dice. nothing on his books that says its coming at all. i think it literally is just a sweepstakes prize. which sucks out loud. all of like 75 people in the country will have it. oh well, i guess i'll have to live with the regular old env touch or versa. btw, if you've been holding off on the versa, get it now. if you've got a new every two credit it's only 30 bucks after a rebate and you can still get it with the keyboard module in stores. if you wait, and they sell out of the ones with keyboards, the new stock is phone only. no keyboard module with it. you'd have to buy one separately. just fyi.
