yep you're right, this is already long known, have a read of the defiance comics, that should help point it out.

the title of this thread is misleading, i was expecting to see cgi, not concept art.

How often do you injure your skull? Their bodies are impractical! Fuck, Rumble and Frenzy wouldn't have even been able to reach in front of them! Every time I see a CG Prime and he moves his arms, his boxy shoulders sink into his boxy chest! If these were solid objects, Prime wouldn't be nearly as limber as he's portrayed!

The G1 aesthetic would look fucking laughable in CGI and you know it.

I feel the same about G1, G2, RiD and the rest, excluding Beast Wars. I'm embarassed that G1 was what started it all.

I'm sorry, I can't appreciate the original cartoon or the 80's. The crappy animation, the poor dialogue, the confusing and at times UNNECESSARY episodes... all convince me that the series started with Beast Wars and any references made to a... G1?... are referring to something we must have never seen, because the way the references make it sound, it's far more amazing then the G1 I recall.

Playing with it to see if I do like it with more mass in the chest, and less below the...arm/waist bridges:

You speaketh the truth. I watched G! a couple times, and get confused when people say its the greatest series. I enoughed the simplicity many of the ANimated toys had, and how they WOULD work. In G1 many charactors would be no where as posible as there original toys.
And yeah, this picture looks a little off.

This may be one of the most insanely stupid opinions I've heard on this board.

Why? Because if you appreciate something, YOU SHOULD respect its origins. WIthout crappy G1, THERE IS NO F#$KING TRANSFORMERS. In addition, its is complete nonsense to judge something from 20 years ago based on todays standards. If you used that reasoning everything from the past is crap. If G1 is so sucky, Why are Prime, Megatron, Starscream and Bumblebee STILL the central figures, and not the Beast Wars crew?

And while I love the movie designs, you saying the g1 designs couldn't be animated in a believeable and fluid way. What is that based on? Pure speculation.Couldn't be based on any facts, because you'd be judging how IMAGINARY ALIEN ROBOTS MOVE based on real world physics. Which is dumb, being that its SCIENCE FICTION.

Wow I've never laughed so hard before. So the series started with BW for you , eh? So all the references to the original series I guess you just ignored, right? Hell, watching the CGI from Beast Wars currently gives me a headache. Compared to what some can do now, it looks amateurish at best.

So then by your logic, you should dismiss this too now I guess.

Actually I must have injured it today because I should have realized I would be insulted by stating my opinion.

The design looks nice. I'm just wondering where'd the Skittlesbot paint job on the Voyager toy comes from when every image of Movie Fallen makes him look more like a robotic demon.

Dude, I don't know why your flaming is being tolerated, but whatever. In any case, you really need to chill out. most of us are just voicing our opinion about the design. You don't see anyone here saying

"F*%#! I hate bay! I hate the Movie! it suks! g1 only! people who like the movie are ******ed! (snarl) (spit) (drool)"

If you want to be a part of the fandom, you and all the other movie crusaders who are ready at a moments notice to attack anyone who is critical of the movieverse (you know who you are) had better come to grips with the fact that there are alot of people who are into transformers who don't like the movie or the designs, plenty who hate beastwars, g1, etc.

I myself am partial to Beastmachines, but I understand that its not everyone's cup of tea.

you are only deluding yourself if you think that you are going to come into this forum and see everyone praising the movie with no detractors. If you have nothing constructive to add to the conversation, keep it to yourself and stop trying to start a fight. I respect that you like the design, please respect my opinion as well.

    meanwhile

Being that this is concept art, it is clear that someone decided that maybe the final product should look a bit more like a robot.
Although, this design would be awesome for the main villan in a Rocklords movie.

    Really?

    Really?

You're entitled to your opinion, but to bash others over something that wasn't even brought up just because you hate it (G1), is kind of silly.

Not everyone loves everything about G1. It was pretty bad, if you're not 8 and it's not 84, but back then it was pretty passable. You're right on one thing. G1 designs would look freakin' ridiculous in live action. No one is asking for that, and I don't see why SOME of the folks who defend everything about the movie-verse always resort to that argument, even when it's not brought up.

Anyway, If G1 doesn't matter to you (and by G1, does that mean the cartoon and the comics? The comics had some pretty cohesive and outright fantastic stories), that's fine. Howoever, you should realize a lot of the things we know of Transformers today, including your precious movie universe, wouldn't be the way it is.

If the TF era started with BW for you, then that's fine. Just remember, even those writers tied it into G1.

Secondly, before you go trying to prove how grown up and manly you are, and how the rest of us are 20 or 30 something year old "man-children", how about you realize you're posting on a website about transforming plastic robots for kids, just like the rest of us.
