...what kind of impact do you think ATF will have in the long term. Obviously G1 is still huge as it started everything and you still see new figures being released based on these designs as well as all kinds of other products...including fan made things...even entire comic books about characters that were not on the show...although I dont like it - Beast Wars also still has a strong following and you still see new products coming out for this as well...so with all this said do you think ATF has had this kind of impact and we will continue to see new incarnations for many years or do you think it will fade fast???

I'd like to think that Transformers Animated will be remembered for all time, and it will. Unfortunately, I think the live action movie will likely be remembered more. But we'll see.

I just ask one thing....stick Lugnut in everything Transformers from now on. Retcon him into the G1 comics in IDW, too.

We already know that TFA has influenced all future TF shows, Hasbro said that TFA's positive reaction really showed 'em the true way of handling their properties instead of just HEY TAKARA MAKE SHOW K?

Also we are already getting a TFA HOMAGE TOY! Movie Lockdown!

It'll be loved by collectors/character-fanatics, but overly forgotten by the younger audiences. It'll be rediscovered in 10 years or so by the next generation, and will be celebrated like Beast Wars.

What place Animated holds may depend somewhat on the nature of the cartoon(s) that follow. Outside of the fandom, there's G1 and the movie(s), and apparently nothing but a twenty year gap in between.

I do find it interesting that some Animated-based characters like Lockdown are finding their way into the Movie style (along with an adversarial relationship with that Ratchet) I'd be interested to see Bulkhead in other universes/styles, as he's a strong original character in his own right.

the 'big' TF shows/films have far-reaching impact that spans beyond their own time in the spotlight. G1 is the granddaddy that laid down the foundations and general dynamic for every form of Transformers that followed. the 1986 movie introduced Unicron and the Matrix of Leadership (though one can argue the comics brought it out as the 'creation matrix' before that) which became popular references and fixtures in toys and shows that followed. Beast Wars brought out the concept of the Spark, such a strong idea it was used in near every TF media incarnation that followed, as well as retconned back into G1 continuity. The 2007 Movie and Animated both put forth "The Allspark" (in slightly differing forms) as a life-giving artifact of great power, and it's likely future stuff won't go back to the BW-era use of the term as a sort of Cybertronian version of Heaven. I don't know if Animated will make many other lasting contributions beyond its own life. I can hope some remnants of the style and strong personalities will find their way into the future. If anything, I could see more future shows where each robot has their own signature weapons and/or powers, as that's a quick way for the kids to tell them apart and pick favorites. (maybe cut down on that "generic thug" syndrome too)

.....People must continue to spread the word about animated. If one day the number of animated fans reaches the hundreds of thousands, maybe then animated must return. :lol

Aim higher than that just to be safe!

Just some of the characters' personalities alone need to be brought into the next series (given it's not movie-centric) as well as some stroytelling as well.

It will be praised until it becomes a religion. TFA will stand up better than the others in the long run.

It will be remember for as long as there are fans willing to keep it alive. I'm just only sorry that all that hard work was cut short because Hasbro wants to overcompensate their cash flow.

    But I digress.

It will be almost immediately forgotten when the next cartoon comes out.
I know,if I say something that sounds negative about TFA,I'm just an evil troll, but as an above poster said,G1 and live action are the only two that really matter. I can remember when Beast Wars was "greatest show EVAR",then RiD was the hot thing, then AEC,now TFA.
If you mention TF to a friend or coworker, they think you mean the movie. Even if you specify you mean cartoons,he'll say,"Oh yeah,I liked the tape guy."
Go to the mall, and check out some TF T-shirts. Lot of G1 stuff, and some live action stuff, but do you see any Armada shirts? Or RiD? Hell,Kremzeek has a shirt, and Rhinox doesn't.
Check your edition of Transformers Monopoly,is there a Ratrap playing piece? How about one of Kicker?

Now,I know what you'll say,all those other shows suck compared to Animated, but people were just as fanatical about all the other TF series. I'd even say BW fans were/are MORE fanatical, yet they've had two poorly selling Universe figures and two homage character in Animated, and not much more.
