Sigh. Does every Autobot have to be badass?

Because the Autobots are supposed to be 'good', to have the moral high ground. If they become as brutal and merciless as the 'cons are supposed to be, then there is no difference between the two sides, they're both equally 'evil', and the 'cons gain just as much justification for what they do as the 'bots.

If my memory serves me well Jazz sure wasnt a supreme badass. Not to mention the whooping SS handed both Ratchet and Ironhide in the first movie (after he blew BB's legs off of course).

We havent' eve seen the film yet and have no idea what is to happen other than the few tid bits we get fed to get our juices flowing.

They're still fighting for justice under their moral that "ALL LIFE IS PRECIOUS"

Except the life that tries to end other lives for no good reason.

So the bots can't kill? If they are to not to kill than their lives are forfeit. So they are just to lay down?

I didn't say that at all. Its the lack of mercy and the brutality of the killing that's the issue.

Why is it so easy for them to keep killing Decepticons? The Autobots need to take some high profile losses as well, not just Jazz . Maybe that will happen this time round.

This is a Michael Bay movie. The Autobots are supposed to be awesome, not good.

Besides, Frenzy survived worse than a deboning. I think some people are taking this ripping Ravage in two as some kind of animal cruelty and getting emotional.

Its a neccessary evil. A message must be sent to that they (the bots) are not afraid.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the statement of "the lines between Autobots and Decepticons are gettin blurred" being dealt with as well in the all hail Megatron series? I picked up the latest issue and flipped through it to see sideswipe talking about the Autobots being just as brutal as the decepticons. I'm not trying to fuel the fire, just making an observation. It is a war after all, but I don't want to see Autobots decapitate unarmed cons or anything of that nature.

By the sounds of it Ravage was far from unarmed and shot BB in the back and he reacted appropertialy, he killed him, how doesnt matter but the fact remains that if BB does not kill Ravage than its his corpse being boned like a fish.

Oh so it's the brutality of it?
I'm sure that whilst being attacked Bumblebee had time to think to himself "Oh no this mean! I better not rip apart this evil shooty robo cat thing that's trying to kill me. I know, I'll just humanely shoot it instead!".

Brutality is sometimes necessary. Considering Megatron tore Jazz in half in the first film, I don't think attempting to reason with the 'Cons will work, and the only way to stop them is to completely destroy them. Like previous posters said, it's necessary to show the Decepticons that they will be as brutal as them in order to stop them taking more lives.

If evil is 'necessary', then what's the point of being 'good'? At that point it becomes nothing but semantics.

Is the fact that they are trying to stop a greater evil from killing millions of innocent humans not good enough?

Well said...secondly I never said evil was neccessary but fighting in a vicious manner was neccessary in order for the bots to accomplish their goal which is prevent their own deaths and the extinction of the humans. It is why they fight, it is what they stand for that seperates them from the cons (or evil in general). The bots kill to protect but not for personal gains.
