Not sure if someone posted this already but one of the people I follow on Twitter posted this and I was pretty surprised at how awesome this was. IGN Video: Black20: Trailer Park Video - Transforminators
Good Idea or Bad Idea Transformers Vs. Terminator? Feel free to discuss and I'm sorry if I've wasted someones time
Bad idea, unless michael bay and who ever directed the new terminator sat down together and did it together as a movie, maybe, but no at the same time....idk....
IMHO it'd probably work better as an out-of-continuity comic, although that's saying a lot for comic-book crossovers, as they don't tend to be all that great.
Bad idea, that could only be made worse by: I never quite understand why people are so vehemently opposed to the Star Wars or Marvel crossovers, but practically ejaculate themselves into dehydration at the mention of a G.I. Joe crossover. Personally, I lost what little interest I had in that toyline around the time it stopped being Action Force.
TPB/Graphic novel? maybe. movie? not a chance in hell of it being good. i just see cliche`s everywhere. they did a terminator robocop crossover game once. that was interesting- for a few days.
As a comic? Yes. The Transformers waking up after Judgement Day sometime during the war would be awesome IMO. The Cons could work with Skynet. The Bots could work with the human resistance. All the while, Skynet would be seeking some secret method of dominating all the transformers. I see it as Transformers reactivating sometime during Terminator: Salvation. Now a movie? It would never work and more importantly would never happen.
Lets see... Human Skeleton bots... versus 3-4 meter tall transforming bots with alien tech. Would be an interesting setup that'll never get explored in more than a cheap what-if moment that does nothing for either series.
Eh, I'd personally do something a bit edgier: the Decepticons are finally beaten by an Autobot-human alliance despite heavy casualties on all sides, and the Autobots head back to Cybertron but engineer a satellite network to head off further threats to the planet Earth - a network which later evolves into Skynet. Some years pass, and a team of Autobots returns to Earth to determine why contact was lost...and are promptly shot at by EVERYBODY, Terminator AND human, whereupon the 'Bots learn that, in finally conquering the Decepticons, they have also inadvertently led to the deaths of 3 billion human beings, and the body count is still climbing as the result of the Autobots' great "contribution" to Earth science. So John Connor gives the Autobots a choice: leave Earth or die. Oh, and yes, I supposed there'd have to be the obligatory "old foe working behind the scenes" subplot to explain how the Terminators can actually inflict damage on the Transformers.
Amused by such insolence, the Autobots enslave the human race and use them as the basis of a high-grade boron compressor lubricant.
Ironically I had this same what if thought after seeing salvation the other day. Thought it might work as a comic but thats all. But then i thought of the tf/new avengers crossover and completely dismissed the idea.
Fascinating concept. the old, "No good deed goes unpunished" or "even the best of intentions" horror story. The part i would like explored would be Prime's guilty conscience. Since he is such a martyr archetype, the idea something he did for the humans going awry would totally corrode his circuits.
