I don't know why everybody is giving this video so much grief. The video for the first version was a bunch of movie scenes spliced together with Stan standing in front of them singing. Well, the updated song has an updated video. The same, but newer.

And as for the song, it's at least as good by today's standards as the original was by '86 music standards. Maybe better.

I've listened to it a few times, and it's kind of growing on me.

I just wish the chorus was a little better, but the rest isn't too bad.

I wonder what an updated version of Dare would be like, though.

You know, maybe I'm being like Charlie Brown here, and I know that being an artist, you have to be immuned to criticism, but I wonder if these reactions (all over the net) are really making the guy feel bad.

I love Stan, and respect what he was trying to do here. But in the end...

Is it any different to the Don Murphy/Micheal Bay backlash back in the day? LOOK AT US NOW!

I can't see how it wouldn't. Mr. Bush has been embraced warmly by the Transformers community, a community that for years consisted of only the most ardent of fans, the ones that organized the fan conventions and started websites such as this one. He surely realizes that any work he produces will be picked up first by the fandom and then spread outward. I don't doubt for an instant that someone close to the project, if not Mr. Bush himself, began to monitor sites such as this one and Seibertron for fan reaction.

The man took one chance creatively in redoing the song and then another emotionally when he released to the masses. Where he has come to expect the most supportive audiences, he has found ridicule and torment and instead of creative criticism has found such insightful gems as "hurtful to my ears" and "it's the sux." And the general populace of this site is far more insightful and respectable (and literate) as compared to the average preteen posting comments on YouTube. With fans like these, who needs enemies?

Stan Bush already realizes that he's not likely going to be a top tour act in his lifetime. Neither is your favorite local band. They both do it because they both enjoy it and it are able to benefit from it. I doubt many of the system analysts, students, teachers, customer service reps or plumbers on this board can say the same. The new movie was a simply an opportunity to get his songs back into the public consciousness and possibly on a top selling soundtrack. It's not an attempt to ruin your childhood memories. (That's Dr. Phil's job.)

It seems the majority of the fans who listened to the song without watching the video seemed to have a higher opinion of the song, so I wonder how much of it is people just not liking the video.* I've heard enough horrible remakes of songs (Looking at you Sean "P Puffy" Combs!) to know that this isn't even close to the worst remake ever.

*To whomever is scanning the comments on behalf of Mr. Bush, thanks for the edit. The constipated shots of the rapper actually were "the sux."

Who likes this song? Personally, I never thought "The Touch" was america's greatest hit, but it was ok, but this new modern version, it might work better without the rap, but it's not working. Just give it up, Stan, the song is a failure.

I think if this was an original song maybe, MAYBE, it might have worked, but to completely remake your own song just because you think that's what's in style these days really doesn't work. Especially not this song. I think the original was good and still is good like as is/was. This here just sounds too emo and knock off-ish. It doesn't do the original any justice. There were good parts to it like the heavy part, but I think the emo piano should be left out and the lyrics made completely new so that this song can stand on it's own as a completely different and new song. NOT try to mooch off of a legacy of a great classic and a completely different artist (Linkin Park).

It's good to see Stan Bush still alive and ticking, and doing the music, but I think he lost his soul by doing this. If that's where he is now artisticly, fine, but it should have been made into completely fresh new song with no association of past hits. Past hits were hits for a reason and if you strip away all the layers that made them hits in the first place you strip away what was so appealing about them in the first place. Original. That is the key word for success in performing arts.

I didn't like it that much. I like the 1986 version much better. The words/lyrical melody do not mix with Linkin Park style. And I pretty much grimaced in pain when that white rapper came into the song. It didn't work.

Love Stan Bush, but not this. One of the things that was so great about the original Touch was it's inspirational vibe. This version is just the opposite. It's emo and depressing. When you take away that inspired emotion the music brought to life from the original, you lose the magic that made it so enjoyable in the first place. People might like to poke fun at "cheese" but let's be real: people like cheese. It's flavor aka the spice of life! If they didn't there would be no such things as Cheeseburgers or Macaroni and Cheese! Cheese is tasty and it's fun!
