That Roadbuster Magnus deco is horrid. Shockwave does look good in either color. Purple tank isn't doing it for me though, but that's a minor issue.

 

Purplewave FTW... although to be fair, the other version has not found its way up here yet.

 

I got both the purple is in Shockwave mode, and the grey is Longarm.

 

Purple I don't think those grey colors look to good!

 

Grey, Shockwaves color change was completely unnessisary.

Purple. I really like the shade they used on the toy. It looks great with the bone-white.

 

I actually like the gray better since the shade of purple just looks way off IMO. Plus, the grey, black and teal are Scourge/Nemesis Prime colors.

 

I have both and like them equally. The Grey slightly more because it's the color he was in for most of the series.

 

Not in those portions. Scourge/Nemsy Prime was always primarily black, then grey with teal highlights. What's off with the purple shade? The one in the show is a perfect dark purple, though I could see why the toy's light-ish purple would look odd. (though I personally like the way it looks and is "close enough" to the show)

I'm well aware of how the layout of Scourge's colors differs from Shockwaves. Doesn't change the fact that black, grey, and teal are "Evil Prime" colors, a fact that I believe isn't coincidence when it comes to Animated Shockwave's desgin.

The shade of purple on Shockwave's true color mode is too dark on both the toy and in the show. I think a lighter shade, more akin to the G1 Shockwave colors, would look better on this Shockwave. Hence my statement, the purple on Shockwave looks off.

 

The grey just strikes me as kinda washed out, in all the modes. I like the purple better, in all the modes - except for Longarm Crane Mode, which I just don't like in general.  

 

Opss, what I tryied to say is that if Magnus gets repared and comes back in the Roadbuster colors in the show, then I wonder if more people are goin to prefer him over the white and blue, beacause the Roadbuster would be the new show accury or they are goin to prefer the old white and blue 'cause is more close to G1.

I'm glad how it turned out the way I wanted it to, Shockwave stays in his "true" color in his true form and turn grey in his Autobot/Longarm form

 

I don't have the Target Exclusive yet, but I plan on displaying it as Shockwave and the regular release as Longarm.

 

I picked up the first one and was happy with him, since I'm not a "Gotta Catch 'em all" Transformer collector, and the toy fit the color scheme of character on the show. I saw the "True Colors" as a nod to the G1 paintjob, but didn't think that the cartoon would actually reflect it... However, I was still cool with my Grey Shocky. Until I found him on clearance at Target the other day. Now I have Grey as Longarm Prime, and Purple is Shockwave.

If I hadn't have found him on clearance, I wouldn't have bothered with him.

You know, I'm worried Magnus will return in the Roadbuster scheme, Bumblebee will join the Elite Guard, or that Lugnut will do an Atomic PAWA-UP. If any of these happens, I might be tempted to get an ugly repaint.  

 

I actually picked up the repaint first because it's the first time I'd ever seen it in a store (on clearance). Then I went down to Toys R' Us and found the grey Shockwave days later, so now I display my toys the same way you do...grey Longarm and purple Shockwave.
