Best comment in this entire thread. And that's saying a lot.

IRL, this would be fuckin embarassing and pathetic that grown men argue to the T-ee about toys!

What has been said has already been done and there's no turning back. I think it's best as TF fans nerds we are, to be thankful that we are getting some bad-ass toys for us 80s kids!

...Wow. 814 posts at the time of writing.
Personally? I do intend to get this if I can. I don't collect repaints so I have never had any interest in the City Commander or Nemesis Commander versions. While I do feel bad for those who paid a lot of money for the TFCon exclusive version, it should be noted that their version IS going to be different.
    Just like the Henkei Seekers.
In fact, it's funny how things come around, isn't it? Observe:

2007 - A company called FP releases official exclusives that everyone wants, thus making sure they are never likely to be released on the general market.
And the people running the convention say:
"You can order them even if you aren't going."
And everyone who can get them says:
    "Awesome!"
And everyone who can't get them and wants them says:
    "That's not fair! You bastards!"
    And the aftermarket prices skyrocket.
    BUT THEN!
Then those figures are released in the Japanese market, with some alterations.
And a large amount of the people who didn't get a chance to get them say:
"Awesome, now we can own these too."
And most of the TFW people who bought the FP exclusives say:
"Good for you guys. Enjoy them."

2 things strike me about this:
    1. Say what you like about Fun Pub & Hasbro, but they stuck to their word. But then they have much larger resources than what is basically a garage company.
    2. Botcon collectors didn't get anywhere near this pissed when it happened to us with an official release of 3 major G1 characters. And we paid a fuckton more than you did. I'm trying to work out why it's happening with an unofficial release of a diaclone repaint.

This... Is pretty much what I said 300 or so posts ago on page 50, post 500. Though I think you said it better, and I'm glad people are finally listening :)

Looks like it's going to be further repainted/redesigned, too. That's good news!

Because it was a CANADIAN exclusive that was not only awesome, and something that a lot of people wanted, but was arguably MORE awesome than the current Botcon set. ALSO, it's specifically supported by another anticipated, upcoming accessory for the same figure (G3 trailer).

We Canadians get overshadowed so much by our southern neighbors that, when we do get a shining moment of glory, we tend to cling to it like starving crazed weasels to Weird Al's face.

This is a really good point. Garage company toys are serious business.

The difference for me is how the mold was bought and paid for.

When Botcon had a short-run of seekers, they paid for the mold, split the cost of the mold across the small-run batch then made a price, sold the items and ended it.

When The japanese release was done of the seekers, they paid for the mold, split the cost of the mold across the small-run batch then made a price, sold the items and ended it.

The two runs were completely independent and one did not supplement the other. Also the two companies who had the exclusives made were not the producer. Imagine if Hasbro sold Pete Exclusive Seekers then Hasbro released those exact seekers at retail for 7.99$ a month later? I guarantee there would be no "enjoy them too" because we would all be upset that HASBRO produced them as a short-run exclusive then turned around and released them retail.

This has the perception of being different. If the TFCOn customers bought and paid for the mold and split the production costs across 500 Pieces with the expectation of the mold being destroyed, and then FP takes the mold now that the production costs are all paid for and just belt out pieces for profit, then there is a reason to be pissed.

If these are two separate castings with the production costs distinct and TFcon customers didn't pay for the production costs of HENKEI PC, then it isn't really a screw job, just some bad and tasteless timing. Seems really poor business to sell a product to a customer to sell as an exclusive then directly compete with that customer.

The lack of Information makes this whole thing just smell bad.

    Your example fails because:

    1. Henkei seekers got released 1.5-2 years after the Botcon ones.
    2. Henkei TC and SW had completely different decos, not just chromed added.
    3. The other 2 Henkei seekers had completely different decos AND wings.

you explanation fails, because, you take a bit of a convesation, off it's point, isolate it, and conclude only one one part, without taking the whole text into considaration

    They still got released.
    They still got released.
    They still got released.
Oh look, a spelling dig. How droll.
    Or is that Troll...?
    ANYWAYS.
So much fanGRRR over an unnoficial addon. Good grief.
I have to say, incidentally, that I always felt it was a franklystupid idea to release the version of this addon for the easiest to find version of the mould required to use it as an exclusive. I'm amazed that anyone is even slightly surprised at any of this.

ROFL. Henkei seeker is not a Botcon seeker.

Chrome PC is not a TFCon PC.

How many more pages until people realize those facts? (I"m hoping for 100 still before the lock, so that my TFcon (exclusive) becomes worth $500 maybe $600 due to lol controversy...

    1. Different toys sharing the same names got released.

I guess some are blinded by the evidence.
