Animated Megatron. It's just really cool and kinda unique.

NOTE: This is coming from a person who wasn't sure on what G1 Megatron's altmode was until about five seconds ago.

 

preferably a tank and a jet ala g1 overlord

you know like that beast vehcile robot line they had over in japan a couple years or so back the one that had the cool truck and trailer that could transform into the wijnged dragon

I always wanted to see a Robot Chicken sketch where Megatron turns into a gun, then just lays there on the ground waiting for someone to pick him up. Then he fires himself and the recoil sends him flying up against the wall.

Still, to answer the question, I prefer the gun just because that's what I grew up with, though Galvatron's energy cannon form was pretty cool, also.

 

I always liked the gun alt mode (and the eventual Unicron-provided upgrade into Galvatron and cannon emplacement -- whay has no one ever given the howitzer-like mobile gun turret alt mode to Megatron?). However, as mass-shifting seems to have faded into the background of derision and disbelief, a tank is the next best thing. I don't think Megatron should be a flying vehicle. He wouldn't need to keep Starscream around as air commander if Megatron could fly himself, I've always though. So, failing a gun/howitzer, Megatron should be a tank. I don't care if it's an RotF Cybertronian tank or a G2 M1A1 Abrams.

To be honest, I really like the Assault Helicopter in Animated. Useful, badass and makes a brilliant toy.

 

I'm going to actually say, Dragon. Because if there's anything that can make you go "okay, we're screwed) than facing down a tank, it's facing down a gigantic robotic, flame spewing serpent from Hell.

the animation model for the beast and bot modes totally rocks out hard the actual figure itself not so much

it would be nice if fansproject would eventually come out with a series of beast wars add on sets to make it so the figure actually matches up more with the character model for dragon megatron
