anyone know a good site where i can read up on the "lore/events" of Warcraft...i pretty knowup til Warcraft III: Frozen Throne...

but between that and WOTLK, i dont really know whats going on. things like what was the big things in vanilla WoW...when did the realm events occur (Isle of Quel'Danas/Gates of AQ)...

things i do know (hopefully), Dark Portal was between vanilla and BC; Scourge Invasion was between BC and WOTLK.

edit: found this, http://se7en-samurai.blogspot.com/2008/01/wow-lore-for-dummies.html, might be enough to not be as lost.

Yes, use WoWwiki. It's updated on a regular schedule so whenever Blizzard decides to retcon stuff, you'll know. As an example...

With WoTLK they retconned the Titans finding the Old Gods on Azeroth the first time they found the planet. Now it's the Titans who arrived first, started working, then left. When they came back, the Old Gods had found Azeroth and made quite a mess.

The novels and comics are a good source as well, as Blizzard tries to mold WoW around the various books and comics that get released.

wowwikki is really the best site for lore. Plus extras, yes it also updates when things to story are Ret-conned. To be fair on the ret-con, most of the time, not everyone in blizzard knows about it right away. Chris Metzen, keeps things pretty close to the vest. An example is Titans, as well as the reason for fighting Malygos. Even his assistant doesn't know everything about lore as he does, or when he will change it. Truth be told, unless you hear hear it from Chris himself, it is usualy concidered hear say anyways.

But, if you go through though the Books found in game, each book excerpt is as close to "canon" info as you are going to get, plus you get an achievement to boot

So far my RaF (recruit a friend) has paid off. My buddy has several lvl 50+ toons (3 DKs over 60, 51 gnome Demo warlock and a 55 Ret draenei paladin) and I have a lvl 52 human combat rogue :D

We still have about 2 weeks left. Gonna burn out some more levels and hopefully get my priest to lvl 20 or so.

So I am relatively new to the whole WoW experience (been playing for about 2 months) and I have not gotten any add-ons yet. Are they worth it? Or are there any that are need to have?

I used to play WOW (played it when it came out in November of 2004), and the addons that I had used alot of included Quest Helper (very useful in finding out what quests you have in certain region), Titan Panel (not sure if they still support it, but it has many things I like, such as gold tracking, bag capacity, etc), and bunch of other addons I can't remember at this point.

if you have a gathering profession...gatherer is good (it remembers where you picked a node, even party/guild members ones)

omen if you plan on doing dungeons/raids (even group quests)...it helps you watch your threat meter. dont want to agro the enemy if your not the tank.

recount if your into the whole DPS thing. some people like to point out (constantly sometimes) when their #1 on the list...some like to see where they are/how well they are doing....

I keep going back to this picture, and the only thing that comes to mind is.... "the wayward adventurers take a brake to do some well earned fishing after defeating the mighty boss. till they realized, this is where he made is poopoo and peepee."

I really don't like bringing my wow problems to here, but I think I may have given up on the alliance. My 25 man raid team has practically fallen apart, so we have had to train new people that won't do research and try to learn the fights so we can get better, or even move when they're supposed to in the fights. So, tonight we decided to split off into two ulduar 10 man teams. One of course has the good players that have the potential to finish, and my team,,,, yeah.

We got loot leviathan down but that was it, they couldn't get the adds down on XT constructor so we kept wiping. On top of that, my 2v2 partner told me that his wow sub runs out tomorrow, so there's not even that to look forward too. I'm really trying not to be negative about the whole thing but it's hard not to. I may log onto do the argent tourney dailies so I can get the titles for my two 80's but that's probably about it. Well, it might be time to roll horde.

Lawl, can't get adds on XT down. Tonight we dps'd his heart so hard it was a mostly a open heart fight. We had to slow up to to not push him in hard mode.

Are your guys new to Raiding?

From what it sounds like your running into the issue many guilds are hitting. They never raided anything to hard, and alot of it post Nerfs. Naxx is good and fun, but its just pretty much a check to see if you can bash a few buttons. There were only a few fights in there that you actually had a good chance to see who failed when they had to do more than move a few feet and go at it again. Ulduar while easy for the first I want to say 7 Boss's, is rather large step in testing Stupid at raid.

I will give you one little thing for XT though. You got the Front Left, Back Left, Front Right, Back Right Scrap Piles. Tank XT right in the Middle of the Front Left and Back Left Scrap Piles. Trust me on it if your still having a Add Issue.

Never said I had a Bajillion Gold nor called him a noobs, but it does sound like many of the people in his 25 man raid deserve the tag.

Oh yeah, I figure Kael in TK and Vashj were the first "hard" fights in TBC.
